"Bkjtech was very prompt and detailed. Their install was a quality professional job. We called for a waterfall end of counter solution. Albaro was able to maintain the pattern as an exact match as it “flows” over the counter onto the vertical slab. If you want skilled craftsman installing your quartz or granite countertop, call Bkjtech for a quality install."

"Norman scheduled the date, arranged for us to purchase the materials, even got us a contractors discount at Lowe's, and brought them to our home. It took 2-3 days longer than originally planned, but that was not his fault since he had some medical problems to take care of and got sick during this time. Our bathroom looks amazing! He communicated with us often, even brought his son-in-law by to help since it is a family business. Later that summer after the snow melted, we called him back to build us a fence in the back yard, which they did pretty quickly despite the weather went nuts that summer and literally rained almost every day that month which showed things down. He was great company for me to sit outside and talk to also. If you want some fun and good stories about locals from a life long Alaskan along with some good quality work, call Norm. <br />"

"Alan Gering of Homescape Builders had been doing some visits back in November. I have my own maintenance crew. As I saw his business card and looking at it, I had to call him out. He is excellent. He was on the property last week. We are going to meet to take down some final sightings and have it replaced. We also need to replace some of the wood on the exterior of that building and he is going to take care of that for me. He started the process back in September and as it got too cold, so now he's going to be coming back to finish that up for me. Everything and each piece of the work that he does is on a bid. No job is too small to too big. He is willing to work with different properties, and he stays really really busy. One of the last invoices was for $7000 and he had worked on several units. At one time, I owed him a little over $30,000 and he had done about six units for me, but he broke it down so that I could pay him each quarter. He is a really really good guy. Last invoice was in January 2011, for which he did two apartments and the invoice was $3290. In that he was doing the vinyl trim on my windows, painting and moulding to caulk and seal the windows so that they are air tight. He purchased and installed the tub joint to put over the existing tiles. He repaired weak tiles, caulk and sealed, and reinstalled the plumbing. Most definitely, I would use him in the future and promote him whenever I can."

"I called Robert to see if the company was interested in this small job. He suggested I might want to try putting a sealer on the sub floor to see if that blocked the odor. I was pleasantly surprised that he was offering me a cheaper fix for no charge. I told him I wanted a more permanent solution. He came out that afternoon and talked me through how they would do the work to eliminate the odor problem. He gave me a written estimate. Right then and there I said he was hired. Three days later Robert and a young crew of 2 guys, one with experience and a helper came out. He showed them what he wanted them to do and then left. The job was completed in about 4 hours. The work looks like it was well done. I was in the house the entire time and overheard conversations with the crew and Robert regarding details of the job. <br /> I rated the professionalism a "B" because of a couple issues that came up on the job site that did not affect the quality of work. The crew used the toilet on the first floor at my invitation but left the water running in the tank. The jet pump came on and continued to pump water through the system and into the septic system. They ignored the sound of the pump. Finally I had to investigate the problem and located the running toilet. The crew was clueless. The other problem was that they told me that they had broken the light bulb in the crawl space. However, it was more than that. Apparently they didn't look at the fixture. The vibration during the job had loosened the ceramic collar around the bulb so that the bulb could not be unscrewed to be replaced. I tightened the fixture collar and then was able to unscrew the old bulb and replace it. Finally, as a general comment, I would have liked to have had Robert contact me after the job was completed to see how I liked the job. That always makes good customer relations. <br />"

"David Costello was our contractor for a kitchen remodel and other upgrades to our home.  He did a really professional job from beinning to end.  He is a man of artistic detail and precision, just the kind of person you want to have remodel your kitchen.  He also is concerned about the satisfaction of his clients and is always responsive.  He returns calls quickly & keeps you informed of his plans and what will happen when.  He provided a detailed, itemized estimate of costs and time which he honored fully.  Dave is intelligent and truly knowledgeable about his craft.  He has a good heart as well.  We're so pleased with our new, beautiful kitchen and we would purposely seek him out, even wait for him, if we needed further home improvement.  Thank you, thank you Dave! <br />"

"Tony did an excellent job. I had a very large wood pile that was in the way of some future construction. He moved the entire pile, cut up and stacked some wood into fireplace lengths. There was also a lot of brush left over from a GVEA project to replace telephone poles. He cleaned up my entire property and hauled the brush as well as rotten logs, old fencing and more to the dump. That job took 2 days. Secondly, even though there was snow on the ground, he then shoveled topsoil into a raised bed 4 x 30 ft long. It was not accessible with any other equipment. That took another day and a half. <br /> Tony is a great worker, very strong, very willing, and pleasant to work with. His logo says " I haul it, clean it, repair it, paint it."  And I'm sure he can do all that and more. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again. <br />"

FAQs for handyman service projects in Fairbanks, AK

Winterizing shields your home’s structure and key systems from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. By sealing drafts and tuning up heaters, you cut energy waste, extend the life of appliances and windows, and avoid surprise repair bills. A small up-front investment keeps rooms cozy and protects the value of your biggest asset all winter long.

Yes, it’s important to prepare your sprinkler system for the winter. Blowing out the lines and insulating above-ground parts keeps valves and pipes from splitting when temperatures drop. A quick winterization visit costs far less than repairing burst components in spring, and it ensures your lawn--and your wallet--stay in good shape once the thaw hits.

A full home winterization plan goes beyond sealing windows and pipes. You might schedule a home energy audit, cover outdoor furniture, service the snowblower, swap smoke-detector batteries, add outlet gaskets, and hang storm doors. Each step beefs up your home’s protection, cuts drafts, and lowers the chance of costly cold-weather damage.
