"I contacted Logan on Tuesday morning after waking up to a burning smell in our home the seemed worse near an outlet. They came out the same day and found there wasn't anything wrong with the outlet but we had too much on one circuit with our current wiring. (Later that evening our deep freezer went out which we determined was likely our burning smell and it was plugged into that outlet). After discussing out current situation with my husband, we agreed on a plan to add some additional circuits and outlets in our basement and garage. Logan let us know he would get an estimate together and we would go from there. The next day, we received a very reasonable estimate for the work and agreed to proceed. He said they had availability on Saturday. They arrived and completed the work as promised and even loved on our pets as they moved throughout our house. We did a walk through with them to discuss additional upgrades in our home. They were professional, prompt & reasonably priced."

"Couldn't afford to pay for an AC system, and labor, so I contacted Tom Martin of MMG and he was kind enough to send 5 star rated Senior HVAC Technician Dennis Canterbury out to tell me everything needed to have a fully functional AC system, allow me to purchase my own parts and do my own labor and then have them come back out and hook it up. Now that's top notch service!!!! 5 out of 5? More like 10 out of 10!!! I'll quote you this "If you're in need of HVAC, plumbing or electrical services, residential or commercial, from a company you can trust to go out of their way to make sure that you're sitting pretty in hard times. THEN YOU NEED MMG.""

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Falling-rock, WV

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
