"Target Radon was very responsive and they worked in increments. They replaced the motor first. When that was not enough the replaced the stack. They continued working until the problem was solved."

"Mr. Goldberg performed a radon test for me and did find that I had some moderate radon levels in my home. He's very efficient with what he does. He referred me to a guy named John Sweat to help me deal with the problem. I spoke with the guy and gave me a proposal but I have not heard from him in about a week and a half."

"I contacted Mitchell Home Inspections due to a positive referral from a friend. The inspector (Cliff) arrived early and was very knowledgeable and polite. He did a really thorough inspection and the report was well written with many pictures, notes, and findings. One of the most important things he did was to inform me that he observed radon mitigation systems on the surrounding homes. Based on this, I requested that he perform the radon test and we discovered that our home had a very high radon level. If he did not mention that, my family would be putting ourselves at risk for lung cancer (due to radon) without even knowing it. Now we have the mitigation system in place so we can sleep well and safe. THANK YOU CLIFF!!"

"One word: outstanding! Dan is a true professional and was available to discuss the report on a Saturday night. Our realtor was impressed with his work and noted he was already working on the house by the time she arrived. He is truly committed and helped us a lot in reviewing all the details, from the smallest to the largest! Since we couldn't be there, he noted every detail and went over each item that we raised over the phone with great detail and helpful tips. This is the second time we used Highland Home Inspections and we would use them again! <br />"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"I called several home inspectors in the area to get quotes and to see <br /> who was the most qualified to inspect a potential property that my <br /> husband and I are thinking about purchasing. I spoke directly to Alan <br /> and he was filled with informational advice. He not only explained what <br /> he included in the home inspection but he also explained what each <br /> process was and why it was done. He is very accommodating as far as <br /> scheduling appointments. Upon our inspection we were extremely pleased <br /> with the amount of time he took to look over EVERYTHING and explain <br /> EVERYTHING during the process and after the process. He is very friendly <br /> and patient with any questions you may have. We received our report <br /> within 24 hours and it was VERY detailed and explanatory to what he <br /> found. This report also included pictures, links and suggestions for <br /> problematic areas. I have already recommended to a friend and will <br /> continue to do so. We will be using Alan again in the future if we do <br /> not purchase this property. Thank you again! <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Fallston, MD

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
