"Scheduling the appointment was slow. We first contacted Leadtec at the end of August, exchanged a couple emails, and then didn't hear from them for a week, and had to re-contact them before an appointment got scheduled. On the day of the appointment, Susan was a bit late, but she called to let me know she was running behind. Once the inspection started, it went really well. Susan walked through everything she was doing and explained the process and the test. She was clearly knowledgable about lead and lead testing, and answered all questions clearly and confidently. In the end, she took 75$ off the price because the appointment went faster than she expected. <br />"

"Everything went smoothly. The inspector had me execute remedial lead removal on a few fireplace face bricks that tested positive. I did that and was issued a Lead Free certificate, filed with MD Dept. of the Environment."

"The owner, Wade Allen returned my call very promptly.  He explained the entire process of lead inspection (for my newly-acquired multi-unit rental property in Mt Vernon) and was punctual for our appointment and very knowledgable and educational.  He collected dust samples from the windows and although there are a few small items that need to be done to get my lead cert, he understood the intricacies of the fact that it is a 100+ year old brownstone that both has lead paint and is in a historic district so there are restrictions.  He went over and above by educating me on how I could handle most of the items myself and how/what I would need.  Overall great guy and company to deal with. "Went very well. Mr. Rowley knew exactly what to do to collect good samples from the area in question. He sent the samples to a certified lab for testing and promptly emailed me the final detailed report within approx. 24 hrs."

"I am in the process of house hunting and I have had Robert with RC Air & Mold Solutions conduct mold inspection and testing on two properties. Since I was exposed to toxic mold at my previous residence, Robert's knowledge and expertise were needed and appreciated. He fully explained his process, was prompt in completing his inspection, and followed up with both verbal and written reports. He was pleasant to work with and patiently addressed all questions. I highly recommend RC Air & Mold Solutions."

"Aaron was prompt (actually got there early), professional and pleasant. We had an accepted contract on an investment property and he was checking it out to see what items would need addressing. I had also asked an electrician to go through the house the next day to give me a quote on what it would cost to bring the place up to code. The electrician did catch one item that was against code that Aaron had missed (the thermostat wire was run along with -inside- a duct vent) BUT the house was built in 1958 and he had a lot of ground to cover. The inspection took over three hours- he was thorough. He left radon testing in place and had to follow up in a few days to pick it up and send off for testing. He followed up after the radon results came back. All in all a great job- I would hire him again. <br>"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Fallston, MD

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
