"As with any seasonal company, get on the schedule early. We had one section of concrete removed, re-grading for run-off to flow away from the house into a rain garden basin they dug, and put down asphalt on a gravel 3 car parking area, with the asphalt butting up against the 110 yr old brick house. This was a tight area to work being at an old house in Minneapolis. This company was the only one to address my drainage needs upfront in a way that made me feel confident that I wouldn't have a pool of water where we previously had an issue. One day the grading crew came out. A few days later the asphalt crew came out. I thought it would all be done in one day, so communication could have been better about this aspect. I did take the time off work on both days to be on site. I'd recommend everyone do this, regardless of contractor, when it comes to this type of work. It's easier to correct things with a crew on site or answer a question they might have about your preference. This is hot, messy work. Advice to homeowners: Provide your crew with cooler full of bottled water and gatorade. It'll go a long way toward establishing good will with guys working **** ** your behalf."

"I chose Advanced Waterproofing not because they were the cheapest, but because of their impressive professionalism both during the onsite inspection and quoting process.  They stood out as a company that new how to do it the right way to ensure I would not have to worry about how the egress window was implemented.  Since it involved cutting into my home foundation I wanted to make sure the most qualified & experienced company did the work ... since this company's roots are with foundation water proofing it made sense to go with them (instead of many of the other installers that just have background in general construction or window installs).  They took care of everything from permitting, to even putting down plywood to minimize/avoid damaging my yard.  They took care of all the clean up (even the street).  Communication was great throughout the process and everything was detailed out explicitly in the quote so there was no room for misinterpretation.  I would definitely recommend them for any type of services they provide given my experience with this company.  I recommend when comparing companies for your Egress window, don't just look at the price.  Take time to understand the details of what each installer does to ensure you will never have to worry about water leaking thorugh your window/foundation. <br />"

"The crew that arrived to remove the old asphalt was hard working, all business and very polite. They had several trucks, a Bobcat, and removed all the old asphalt. They also dug down to remove the spongy clay that would prevent a good application of new asphalt, and added solid fill.  They then returned on another occasion, when dry weather permitted, to put down the new asphalt. The crew trimmed the areas around the steps and garden very handsomely. <br /> Modern Roadways was a pleasure to deal with! The price was very good, and the work outstanding. I especially appreciate their attention to critical matters such as removing the clay beneath the old driveway when other contractors might have just paved over it. I highly recommend them! <br />"

"Chris & his crew arrived on time, they had to remove the existing tree, plant the new tree and create a stone tree well around the nw tree.  It turned out just like we wanted.  They also installed some small shrubs for us to improve the overall appearance of our backyard.  We love it and get compliments on it all the time. <br /> Previous to doing this work for us, Chris & his team installed a paved patio and sidewalk in our backyard that we love.  That's why we knew we needed to go to him when we had this job come up.   <br /> We highly recommend this company for anyone who needs pavers, stone work or landscaping done.  They are reliable and do beautiful work! <br />"

"We are very happy with the results of the exterior waterproofing Drew and his crew performed. Drew was the only contractor willing to try to accomplish the waterproofing task by preventing the water intrusion rather than dealing with the water once it was inside the foundation. They removed a 12" by 20 ft section of concrete driveway along the house, excavated a trench to the front yard and installed a "french" style drain along with rock and plastic lining. They also regraded along the front of the house using the same method and connected to the drain line. The entire thing terminates in a rock filled underground pit. It has been eight months since the work was completed and there has been no water intrusion from the fall through the spring. The entire crew was very professional. They took care to not cause any more lawn damage than absolutely necessary and cleaned the driveway almost completely. We were realistic knowing not every spec of dirt would come off without some rain, but they left almost nothing when they left. We will be calling Drew for at least one more project that we are confident will be performed with absolute perfection."

"Expert Asphalt was great. We talked to other companies but they were only willing to quote a full driveway replacement. Expert Asphalt didn't think our driveway was in that bad of shape and quoted adding an overlay of the 3" of asphalt. They saved us a lot of money. Crew was quick and clean. Driveway looks brand new and we've had no issues."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Faribault, MN

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
