"Alex & his team did an outstanding job on clearing the snow at my mother in laws home in N.Massapequa. The communication was excellent, very professional, and had the work done the same day. A very fair price for the amount of work they did after Fern did her damage. Would certainly hire again & suggest you do the same. Thanks again Alex. Steve in Levittown"

"My experience with Rashad started off pretty well. He was nice, and I felt his pricing was very fair. He came by a little less than 2 months ago to give me an estimate, and we had scheduled an appointment around 2 weeks after the estimate, as he was booked up until then, which was fine by me. The day before he was scheduled to begin the job at my house, he asked if he could reschedule for a week later. I agreed, but I asked if he could come by in less than another week just to do 2 priority tasks such as installing my address number outside my house, as my house had no address number on it for weeks. He agreed and came by the following day for a few hours to do the address numbers and patch up a large hole in my ceiling, which I really appreciated. He came by the following week and completed some of the items he agreed to complete. Then the following week he was scheduled to come back on a Thursday, but the day before that appointment he said he had to reschedule because he needed a helper that was not available until Friday. No problem and we rescheduled to Friday. He was a little late on Friday and they were doing some loud work that sort of delayed our infant son's bedtime, but it was no big deal. That Friday evening before he left my home, I told him I would pay him most of the money we agreed upon for the entire list of agreed upon work even though there was still a significant amount of work left to be done on the list. He said he would be back Friday of the following week, and I paid him via Venmo that same evening he left my home. Unfortunately, after I paid him most of the agreed upon money, he never returned to complete any work, and there was still a number of list items he never completed nor even started. I text messaged him twice the following week before our appointment. Once to send him a list of the remaining items and another time the day before our appointment to confirm, but he never responded. Then at the end of the day of the missed appointment, I texted him again to politely ask when he would be able to come back and complete the job. Again, I received no response. About midway into the following week, I called him and he claimed he never received my text messages, which doesn't explain the missed appointment, but at least he said he would come back the following week to address the remaining work on the list. He then gave me his email address since he said he did not receive my text messages. We then setup an appointment for a Wednesday via text message, as I suppose he was now receiving my text messages. I text messaged and emailed him the day before our Wednesday appointment to confirm and ask what time he planned on arriving. He said he would be there around 10am. Now comes Wednesday 10am, the day & time of our appointment, and he does not show up. He sends me a text message later that morning that says he's stuck in the city on an emergency, he has not headed my way yet, and he will have an update for me soon. As of now, a full week later after that most recently missed appointment, I never received any update nor heard back from Rashad at all. I text messaged, called, and emailed him about 3 times each in the last week in case he would claim his phone or text messaging was not working again, and I have not heard back from him at all. Despite my frustration at this point, my messages to him were all courteous such as asking him if all was well with him and asking that he please get back to me at his earliest convenience, thanks, regards, etc.... I feel pretty stupid for trusting Rashad, as he never returned after I paid him, which was close to four weeks ago. Now, close to two months after finding Rashad, I have to begin the process of finding another handyman and paying money again to a new handyman to fix and complete the work Rashad left unfinished. My apologies for the lengthy review, but I am just astonished by Rashad's actions and unprofessionalism."

"I utilized this electrician to install a new double oven. The two people they sent to complete the install misrepresented their arrival and departure times by about a half hour (apparently they call in their times to the main office at the time of arrival and departure), which of course, at $195/hour, added up. They didn't know how to actually install the oven and couldn't comprehend the instructions (in the owner's manual) and so, I had to Google some youtube video for them to watch, which they did over and over again for a total of about a half hour (again at $195/hour). They finally completed the install, which in the end was satisfactory. However, a few days later I received a bill for $390 based on a 2-hour install time, which should have been based on just over an hour. When I called to request that they adjust the bill based on the actual arrival and departure times as well as the half hour that was spent watching the google video on how to install an oven, I was told by "Chris" that watching videos on how to install appliances is sometimes necessary, even at $195/hour on my dime. This did not seem reasonable. I would personally not use this company again or recommend them to anyone. If anyone decides to use them, I suggest they clock in the arrival and departure times and have the electrician acknowledge the time in writing. I would also make sure that Google is available for some on-the-job training and be prepared to pay for the time spent while they educate themselves. Chris also advised that customers are charged for an additional hour if the electricians go over an hour by even a few minutes. Apparently it's always rounded up to the next hour, another $195 in their pocket. Finally, I will add that "Chris" was very arrogant on the phone and difficult to speak with. It was very evident to me that he had made up his mind well before getting on the phone with me and stated that he couldn't care less if I write a negative review on Google. I've used them before and always paid in full and timely. This did not seem to matter to Chris and the extra $100 was apparently worth it to him, even at the expense of losing my business."

FAQs for swimming pool remodeling projects in Farmingdale, NY

You can modernize your pool by adding features like underwater LED lighting, mosaic tiles, or a beach entry for easy access. Incorporating amenities like fire pits, waterfalls, or installing energy-efficient equipment can also give your pool a contemporary upgrade.

To make your pool more energy-efficient, consider resurfacing it with a lighter color to reduce heating needs and evaporation. Installing a variable-speed pump can significantly lower energy consumption. Switching to low-energy LED lights not only saves power but also enhances ambiance. Additionally, updating old plumbing pipes can improve efficiency and reduce water loss.

A pool remodel typically takes between four and eight weeks to complete. The exact duration depends on factors such as the size of your pool, the complexity of the renovations, and the availability of materials and contractors. Planning ahead and coordinating with a professional pool remodeler can help ensure your project stays on schedule.

Remodeling your pool can be a worthwhile investment, especially if you plan to sell your home. A pool remodel can increase your property's value and enhance its appeal to potential buyers. Upgrades like modern finishes, energy-efficient systems, and added features like lighting or fountains can transform an outdated pool into a backyard oasis.

Resurfacing a pool involves applying a new finish to the existing surface to address cosmetic issues and minor structural concerns. Replastering is a more extensive process that replaces a deeper layer of the pool's structural base, impacting both stability and appearance. After replastering, you can choose from various finishes to enhance the design and longevity of your pool.
