"After slipping down our hardwood stairs with our new infant in hand, we were in desperate need to more traction, and quickly. I cannot recommend Andy and Wagner carpets enough. They were quick to respond, quick to install, and did an amazing job."

"I spent several months visiting the location to choose something from the remnant area as I was on a strict budget.  When I finally could wait no longer to make a decision, part of the remnant I wanted had already been sold.  Rick and Nancy worked to find what would work and even harder to actually schedule the installation as by that time they were fully booked for the Christmas holiday.  However they did find time to do the installation for which I was extremely grateful! <br /> While their inventory is significantly less than other carpeting installers, their prices are as well.  If you can afford to wait and find just what you need, there is no better vendor! <br />"

"After the first layer of old flooring was removed it was decided that another layer had to be removed in order to remove the old dishwasher I had purchased and install the new one. The installer spoke to the sàles person at Page Countryside to make sure there was enough room to get the old dishwasher out and install the new one. They had to remove a second layer of vinyl to do this, and that vinyl was glued to the plywood. It was a mess and took them a full day just to get this old flooring removed. They needed an extra half day to instal the new flooring. They took careful measurements of the dishwasher area to ensure that everything would be ok fotr that install. Because of all thadditional wok involved, there was an additional charge but it was very reasonable, $75. The guys who did the installation were professional, friendly, and knew their stuff! The floor looks outstanding and I will certainly recommend Christie Carpets to anyone! <br />"

"Every step of the process was good. Oz was very helpful in guiding my selection of the wood and came to the job site every day to check on progress. He even gave me a tip on a less expensive vendor to move my furniture before and after the project. The workers were professional and industrious. Despite the amount of dust generated during the removal and installation, my home was left amazingly dust free when they finished. My floors are beautiful and I am very satisfied. Would not hesitate to recommend Hardwood Outlet to others."

"They are a small company, and I worked with the president of the company. They were very nice, knowledgeable, and professional. The company they do business with can have the carpet to them in 24 hours, and within a week, their installers were available. However, we weren't in a hurry and asked to delay for about a month. They were able to install on the date that met our needs. We will definitely hire them when ready to install our kitchen floor."

"Leaky 1st floor powder room toilet damages hardwood flooring. Lion responded quickly when called. Stuck to their original work estimate. Did not have enough old unused wood pieces to do the job. Lion did search for and found wood to match our 20 yr old damaged flooring. Extra cost for wood. Showed up when promised. Professionally installed our floor and cleaned up in a timely fashion. Owner/installer was professional, artful, and mindful of our needs. Would use Lion again for additional flooring needs. <br />"

"Bill's Carpet worked for me. Had the pleasure of working with the manager Dave. The options were endless and they were able to order and install within my tight time constraints of leaving a rental and closing on my first home. I plan to do more upgrades on flooring. I will be contacting Dave at Bill's!"

"Dan  was prompt, communicated clearly and was  flexible as I have a challenging schedule to work with. Once we set the date, Dan and his assistant arrived on time and checked in with me along each step. Dan worked with me on some things that I changed my mind on such as adding the stairs to my project. This is my first experience with a contractor and it was great. Dan was concerned that I was happy with the finished product and I am! I already have some plans for more work. Very concientious work by both.Dan and his assistant."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Farmington, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
