"Victor was great to talk to about the project and discuss possibilities. He communicated with me every step of the way to completion of the project. If i have any other projects that come up, they will be the first I call to see if they can do it."

Small jobs welcome

"They came when they said they would. Very kind and respectful. I had a patio put in and without asking he put a border in. He said if you don’t like it I’ll take it back out. Turns out it’s something I didn’t know I wanted and love the design. Definitely would hire again! "

"I hired Brad (On Grade Construction) because his bid was thorough and detailed. My job necessitated the removal of a lot of tree roots, which he did methodically and painstakingly. He had the perseverance and all the necessary equipment to do the job as thoroughly as I had hoped. For the most part Brad is a one man show so he is the guy who is there on the job, doing the labor, answering questions and making suggestions. He was approachable and easy to talk to. I like that. For the same reason, the job took a little longer than I might have hoped in the beginning, but the end product is well done and completely satisfactory. Brad is forthright in explaining his costs and rates, and was honest in deducting costs when they turned out to be less than he had anticipated. The actual price of my finished job was slightly less than his original bid. Brad was honest, hard-working, and I am very pleased with my new curb, gutter and sidewalks."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Farmington, UT

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
