"Radon Systems LLC did a great job. I had a radon level of around 6.5 in my basement for years, and finally decided I needed to address it. After receiving 3 quotes, I had Dave from Radon Systems come over to do the job. I initially was resigned to having the PVC pipe go up the side of my house, but Dave found a way to run the piping inside the basement and go thru the garage, with only 18" of PVC sticking up past the garage roof. Excellent! And now my radon level is around 1.0 to 1.5 all the time. The entire job took half a day, and Dave was clean, respectful and easy to work with. I absolutely recommend them."

"Jon was incredible. He inspected the entire house, from attic to basement, for moisture with a special instrument that allowed him to detect what was behind the walls. He found that the basement was just above the maximum acceptable dampness - and that there was mold on the wood paneling, the kind of mold that makes you sick. He explained that the mold in the basement could easily travel to my bedroom located on my second floor. He said that this was a job I could handle myself, and told me exactly what to do. He would not accept a fee for this consultation."

"We discovered that we had a radon reading of 11.4 ppm with an acceptable level of only 4.0 ppm. I joined Angie's List to find a qualified company in my area to learn what could be done. I chose A and R Environmental with a A rating based on several positive reviews. I called Aand R and spoke to a very knowledgeable young lady about where radon comes from, it's cancer effect on health issues and how to get rid of it. She explained in detail the mitigation process, the system itself and the cost of installation. That was on a Tuesday. An appointment was made for the following Thursday at 1:00 pm. The crew showed up on time and we decided on a location in the house to put the equipment. It took only three and a half hours start to finish. The system was installed, the house was cleaned of any debris and I was given a thorough explanation of the system and what to monitor. I can't say enough for Angie's List and the great people at A and R Environmental for their professionalism."

"Gary, the install tech, was great. He arrived on time, was professional, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right and I was satisfied. He installed a new radon pipe, and ensured the clamps were not directly against the house and the top of the pipe was properly away from the gutter. After the pipe was installed I noticed a rattling noise coming from the motor...Gary checked it and cleaned out debris multiple times until the noise was gone. You could tell Gary takes pride in his work and wanted to do the job right the first time (I feel like you don't see this very often). A job well done."

"Very well. Punctual and thorough. Tom invited me to follow him and ask questions as he worked. Very friendly and thoughtful in answering questions. Encouraged reaching out with any follow up questions. Agreed to have radon test in addition to home inspection."

"He was very professional from the get go and responded to email and phone calls promptly. On the day of the inspection he was there before the time he had specified and had already started with his outside inspection. He seemed very thorough in his job. Since the home was relatively new construction (2007) there were not many issues sighted. It gave us the peace of mind to go through with the purchase and now about a year after that everything is going strong in the house. <br /> I would definitely recommend him to anyone. <br />"

"As a first-time home buyer, it was important for my wife and I to find an inspector that we could trust to walk us through the process with patience. Dave Valley absolutely delivered. He took the time needed to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. During our inspection, Dave took on the role of not only inspector… but also educator. He was quick to key in on the things that were important from a safety or cost perspective; he was also great helping us understand what a repair or upgrade might look like. I would highly recommend David for a home inspection, an experienced home buyer will recognize his value right away and first time home buyers will appreciate his patience and ability to communicate in a way that even a beginner understands."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Fayville, MA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
