He was very careful to put on slippers to replace his boots. He also laid a tarp to keep the dust from dirtying the fireplace hearth. He quickly assessed the ignition problem and fixed it. ($150) He then moved to rapidly clean the dryer vent ($140). He was professional throughout. I will hire him again."

"Carlos came out two days before Thanksgiving to remove racoons from chimney.  This was done by placing some drops of a substance that contained the scent of a racoon predator.  He said that the racoons would leave during the night to hunt and would not return because of the smell ... it was not an odor that mortal humans could detect thankfully!  He called on Thanksgiving Day to check and see if we were hearing anymore sounds in the chimney (we were not) and said he would return the next week to check to make sure they were gone and begin work on the fireplace.  On his first visit, he also took measurements and ordered a cap for the top of the chimney so that we would not have any more visitors and no more leaking when it rained.  On his second visit, he repaired, cleaned, and painted the inside of the fireplace in preparation for the gas log installation.  When the cap came in, he called and set up an appointment to install the cap, complete the repairs, and install the gas log.  All work was done for the price quoted, and we very pleased with the result and with the workmanship.  Carlos was a delight to talk to, honest, on time, and explained everything that he was doing.  I would recommend Top Hat without reservation and would most definitely use them again. <br />"

The attic vent pipe for the dryer was inspected as well as the fireplace chimney caps on the roof and overall condition of the firebox.  The chimney and firebox were cleaned and all ashes and creosote removed, making the fireplace safer to use. The chimney hadn't been cleaned in over five years and we burn wood fires about 3 times a week during the winter, so the service was definitely needed.  The dryer vent had a moderate amount of lint buildup so cleaning was quick and not problematic. Service was prompt and very professional. <br />"

"We have a single story stucco house. The roof is composition shingle, with decking, shingle, fascia, soffit, and gutter butting into the left and right sides of a stucco chimney on an exterior wall. Kickout flashing was never installed at the roof edge to terminate the turnback flashing, so water was leaking into both sides of the chimney chase near the fascia. However, there was no exterior evidence of any structural damage. We spent the better part of a year interviewing several roofing/stucco contractors looking for a qualified assessment of the situation, and a bid for a proper solution. All of the bids recommended at least partial demolition of the stucco surrounding the affected areas of the chimney ($3000+), with a disclaimer that there would likely be extensive water damage discovered, requiring a rebuilding of the entire chimney ($10,000+). Since the stucco and chimney seemed structurally sound, we were looking for a practical solution that specifically addressed the leak itself, and Dayton Contracting was willing to provide it. Shane suggested retrofitting the kickout flashing through slots cut into the chimney's surface, preserving the integrity of the stucco at a fraction of the cost. Daniel and crew did an excellent job of implementing the solution, and Shane warrantied the work for 1 year. We were confident that the issue had finally been resolved, after the chimney remained dry following several major spring downpours, until a smaller leak returned in the same area. Shane, honoring his warranty, decided to fabricate and install a new cricket over the existing one, with new turnback and kickout flashing, to totally seal the chimney. Again, Daniel and crew performed the work in a seamless aesthetic way, preserving the integrity of the stucco. Working with Dayton Contracting has been incredibly satisfying. We experienced excellent communication throughout the project. Daniel and crew are truly craftsmen. Shane provides creative and practical solutions, and he stands by his work. We have recommended Dayton Contracting to several of our friends and family, for both smaller and larger projects, and will not hesitate to contact them ourselves in the future, if the need arises."

"I had excellent service with Dennis. He called me when he said he would and was on the job when he said he would be. He let me know the time he would be late because of a flat tire. Even though he had another job he needed to start as soon as he was finished with mine, he worked around the  illnesses of the tenants with no complaint. <br /> <br />Dennis did what he could to hold the cost down. He hand mixed the paint for the fascia using paint he had and it was almost a perfect match for a 40+ year old house. He had some spare singles so he was able to repair the small area that was broken without having to buy a whole package. I was very pleased with everything he did.
