Small jobs welcome

"I was very hopeful when Vince and Jay came to look at the wooden fence repair. They were upbeat and confident about being able to do what I asked when it came to the gate and fence repair. Some sections were leaning and the gate was dragging and hard to open due to bent hinges plus several pickets were broken or warped along the back and needed to be replaced. According to our discussion, they were supposed to repair the gate by replacing one post and replacing the existing two hinges with 3 new hinges, remove and replace 4 poles from the leaning sections, and replace 25 pickets along the back. In looking around they talked about being able to also power wash and seal afterward. Since they were power washing the fence I decided to add power washing two patios, the carport, and the sidewalk to the fence job. There was also discussion about other jobs that needed to be done so the price fluctuated so I asked for a written quote to avoid any misunderstanding later. The first quote did not include details and was missing something because it did not come up to the final price they stated so I called and asked Vince to check his notes on what was missing. We agreed that it was the sealing of the fence. The job did not go as planned. They are very hard workers, although they were an hour late, they worked nonstop on the tasks at hand. The gate was difficult due to hinge removal, for some reason, they ended up using 3 posts instead of one to repair the gate and only used 2 hinges instead of the 3 they said would be necessary to hold it. They replaced more pickets than was planned so there was no surprise in the price adjustment for those. The part of the job I have a problem with was the sections that were leaning, the old posts were not removed as discussed and two new poles were placed in between the old ones. When I asked about it, Vince said the old posts were still strong so it was better this way. By now it was getting dark, but they were determined to finish in the dark rather than come back the next day to finish. We settled up that night. Unfortunately, in the light of the next day, one section of the fence is still leaning slightly. The first post they replaced has slight give to it, maybe there was a problem with the concrete setting up correctly since there was a lot of fence movement when placing the second post, which seems to be sturdy. There are several pickets overlapping older pickets on the section that was leaning â not sure why- and not sure what it would take to space the pickets properly. In general, that part of the fence looks very unprofessional. This is a quote from their profile page â We value honesty and integrity in all aspects of our business, and pride ourselves on the quality of our work, as well as our commitment to outstanding results.â I was relying on that claim and the good review rating when I left messages for Vince several times asking that he call me back to discuss what could be done, but I have not heard from him. If I hear from him I will update this review â if not, lesson learned. If you plan on using Vinceâ s Installations I would recommend you get a detailed quote broken down in labor and material prices and stay on top of any deviation from the plan."

"Brandon came out and provided us with a proposal. I received proposals from several other Angi recommended contractors. In the end Broward County Fence was the best fit. From the start they have been excellent at communicating. They arrived on time and completed the project very quickly. The worksite was kept very clean. The workers were very friendly. I would highly recommend Broward County Fence for your next project. Communication would get 6 stars if that was possible."

FAQs for chain link fence repair or alter projects in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Installing a concrete reinforcement slab significantly boosts the stability and longevity of your chain link fence. This reinforcement creates a strong foundation that protects the fence from erosion, burrowing animals, and high winds. The installation cost is $4 to $10 per square foot, and this robust base minimizes the need for future repairs while extending the overall lifespan of your fence.

Repairing minor damage such as small holes is far more cost‑effective than replacing significant portions of your chain link fence. Minor repairs cost between $100 and $200, while replacing full sections demands an investment of $1,000 to $2,000. For a fence that is 20 years old or older, having an expert assess it now can prevent repeated repair expenses and secure long‑term durability, thereby safeguarding overall fence performance.

If you'd rather remove your chain link fence than repair or replace it, professionals charge between $3 and $5 per linear foot for the job. There may be additional costs involved if there is extra labor needed, like relocating plants or separating the chain-link fence from other existing structures. This also does not include waste disposal fees.

Chain link fences have an average lifespan of 20 years with regular cleaning and maintenance. They stand out as one of the most affordable and durable fencing options available to homeowners and businesses alike. Chain link fences often last five to 10 years longer than comparable wooden fence installations. Chain-link fences made with a vinyl coating often exceed these estimates, providing even greater longevity and weather resistance.
