"After doing some research, I had a preliminary view of what needed to be done and the cost of the material for the work. Then, I contacted 5 electricians to get written estimates for the work. Four of the electricians quoted a price that was more expensive than Glenn. One electrician suggested replacing my current 200 AMP, 30-circuit electrical panel that was maxed out at 38 circuits, with a 40-circuit panel thereby only gaining 2 additional slots. Another electrician suggested instead installing a 100 AMP, 20-circuit sub-panel, which was the correct recommendation, per my research. Glenn also suggested this approach, so I immediately knew that I was dealing with a straight shooter. While price was an important part of the decision making process for selecting an electrician, price was not the only reason I decided to go with Glenn. Of course, he had outstanding reviews on Angle’s list (A ratings only), but of all of the electricians, he was the MOST thorough and MOST detailed at exploring what needed to be done and he explained everything step by step ... he also asked a lot of questions and analyzed my current electrical setup before making a recommendation. He provided a very comprehensive recommendation with 3 different options for me to choose from that provided an efficient sub- panel set up that was also cost efficient, but all 3 recommendations solved my problem. I decided to go with a 100 AMP 20 circuit sub-panel that will provide me with plenty room to expand in the future. Glenn completed all work in 2 days and I was extremely pleased with the job he did. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable regarding his trade, he is also very professional, quite personable; a very nice person. It was a pleasure to work with him and as I told him after the job was completed, he will be "my electrician guy" going forward. I "highly" recommend Glenn ... simply put, he is OUTSTANDING!!"

"After getting a few estimates, I chose to go with Hughes Electrical with my above ground pool electric panel. William did fantastic work, he was very precise and thorough. He installed the panel, pool pump wiring and the pool frame bonding. I also received an extra convenience outlet by the control panel for anything else I needed plugged in! The inspection passed smoothly will no issues. I highly recommend this company, amazing job!"

"Brandon electric was an awesome company to work with! Great customer service and a professional team. They helped us wire for and install two overhead lights in our bedrooms. They also installed a new outlet where we needed one, and helped by recommending the best placement for this new outlet. Thankful for this team, their guidance and their hard work! "Shannon electric is hands down the best electric company around for the price. All switches and outlets were replaced properly. He also replaced my panel, and it is by far the neatest wiring I’ve seen. Definitely recommend, 10/10 service."

"Timothy takes pride in his work, and it really shows. He even contacted us before coming to make sure that the floor outlet he planned to install was what we wanted. it was perfect. He is efficient, friendly, and neat. Tim wore booties over his shoes and vacuumed up when he finished. We were so pleased with him that my husband asked him to install an additional outlet while he was here. Tim found time to do that as well. We will use him again, and definitely recommend him for any electrical work you need."

"I hired Lights On Electric to run an underground line from the electric panel in my home to my new storage shed, 80 feet within the home and 100 feet buried conduit to the electric panel in the shed. This required a rental trencher and some difficult hand digging. The work was done in one day by Hank and Chris. They are able technicians and they did an excellent job. Hank and Chris are a pleasure to work with. I'm very happy with the results."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Fountainville, PA

A whole-house surge protector blocks voltage spikes from lightning, grid issues, or even large appliances before they can fry your wiring or electronics. By diverting excess current at the main panel, it shields everything from your HVAC to your phone chargers and can extend the life of pricey appliances. Homeowners in storm-prone regions or with older panels see the biggest payoff, but any home that relies on sensitive electronics benefits.

Most whole-house surge protectors work for two to three years. Low-level spikes—too small to notice—hit your panel every day and slowly wear down the internal components. Once the unit’s capacity is depleted, it can’t prevent a larger surge, so plan to replace it on schedule (or sooner if a major lightning strike occurs) to keep your electronics and HVAC equipment safe.

A surge protector begins guarding your circuits the moment an electrician snaps it into place. Whether the spike originates from a nearby lightning strike or your fridge kicking on, the protector shunts the extra current to ground before it can reach outlets or hard-wired systems, such as your AC. That instant response is why a small upfront cost can save thousands in appliance repairs.

The unit mounts on or next to your main electrical panel. Type 1 models sit on the supply side, catching outside spikes before they hit the breaker. Type 2 devices snap inside the panel and tame surges that start within the house. Either way, placement at the panel lets the protector guard every circuit at once.

Plan to swap the device every three to five years—or sooner if you upgrade your panel, add high-demand appliances, or notice flickering lights and tripped breakers. Relying on a maze of power strips is another red flag that your current setup isn’t keeping up. Replacing the surge protector at these milestones keeps your electrical system on safe footing.
