"Chris arrived early, well before we did (and we were early!), to start inspecting the exterior of the property. He explained up front what he could and could not do. In the process of the inspection he explained what he was looking at, the reasons for looking and what he might have found and then what he did find. We had lots of questions but he also repeatedly asked us if we had more questions. We feel that we have as good a grasp of what the pros and cons are about this new (for us) house as we can. The report is thorough (with pictures) and he will be sending us a bound copy that we expect will be our house book/bible from here on. We felt like we were his only concern. He had no skin in the game on whether we bought the house, his only concern was to educate us."

"Morgan is a super detailed inspector. He focuses a lot on examining the details of a house, making numerous suggestions on how to fix the major and minor issues. In addition, he is very patient in explaining the problems. I highly recommend Morgan as your inspector if you need a home inspection. I will definitely work with him in the future."

"My husband and I used David in the spring for the home inspection on a property we ended up purchasing. He was easy to get ahold of, available quickly, and incredibly knowledgeable. We purchased an almost 4000 square foot, 135 year old home, and David went out of his way to check every square inch of that property. He arrived early and had already checked the exterior by the time we got there to join him. He was excellent to deal with, made the process painless, and had some great advice for my husband and I as new homeowners. The follow up email with his report was detailed and included photos of every part of the house. His pricing was also very reasonable, especially considering the size of the home. Highly recommend!"

"Peter and his crew were great. Peter was prompt in responding to my inquiry and came out to the house to walk through the lead report and work that needed to be done with me. He gave me a number of options for remediating things and showed me where we could do things in a less expensive manner--explaining the costs and benefits of the different approaches. For example, in one area he told me it was going to cost a significant amount for him to remediate and that it would ultimately be much cheaper for me to replace a section of wood railing instead of remediating the paint. This was to my benefit and his detriment, so I really appreciated it. His crew remediated 15 historic windows and they fixed some cracked panes of glass without my even asking. Peter was very fair, always in communication, and they completed the work promptly and professionally. I highly recommend."

"Set up an appointment for an initial 10 minute phone call to talk about what we wanted. Tom ended up spending 25 minutes with us and answered a ton of questions. We subsequently set up an appointment for an initial pre-build inspection of the foundation, framing, roof, and windows. Tom was very thorough. He obviously knew his stuff. Pointed out several items that needed addressing before the insulation and walls went up. Couldn’t be happier with the amount of time he spent, how thorough he was and how much he listened to all my stupid questions and answered them in a language that I could understand. We will have him back before the next phase starts and probably a couple more times before we close. Anyone building a house or buying a new home would be wise to hire Tom. Great piece of mind and cheap insurance. Plus, he’s a really nice guy to boot."

"Kevin is an excellent home inspector. He did two home inspections for me and was extremely responsive, professional and knowledgeable. He was very thorough during the inspections and took the time to answer all of my questions. He is also very personable and fun to work with. I would hire him again in a second."

"Dan at Still Rivers Home Inspection was very responsive and knowledgeable explaining everything about the house and house function while we walked around for the inspection. His extensive knowledge and expertise comes through as he told me the signals he was looking for and what we saw and what we can conclude and cannot conclude. He was punctual in the inspection and the report following and provided a very detailed/comprehensive report. Overall - I would strongly recommend Dan and will be going back to him if I need another inspection any time soon."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Foxboro, MA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
