"We got a handful of quotes for repairing our driveway, and because of how steep it is, everyone wanted an arm and a leg to even touch it. Everyone except for Daniel and American Custom. They jumped right in and redid our driveway and added some concrete steps in half the time they said they would need. And it completely changed the curb appeal of the house. It all looks amazing and any concrete work we get done while we live in Stafford will be done by American Custom Hardscapes!"

"Troy worked with us and our two neighbors to provide a good price for installation of a patio and sealing of two patios. We did not have to wait weeks or months for them to begin work and we have exactly what we asked for. We requested a stamped concrete patio that looked like brick, and it looks better than expected. Troy is very responsive to any requests or issues. We are very pleased with patio and the value for money."

"James and his team were incredible in the conversion of our front step and the surrounding area as well as from driveway to backyard. Extremely impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail. Great value as well. The family has been extremely pleased with the results and we intend to use the team again in the future. Definitely recommend."

"I contracted Basement Master’s Waterproofing to fill two cracks that started near the bottom of my basement window. I also asked them to install a new sump pump basin (jackhammering foundation floor needed) and installing a new sump pump. The crew showed up at 3 pm and I was worried they would be done by 5:30 when my wife got home. They got all the work done. Even re-routed my sump pump exit line closer to the wall. The price was higher than another company that got me a quote, but the work was completed extremely fast and they took the time to do the extras (smoothing concrete perfectly, re-running the sump pump line) without me asking. They were out the door by 5 pm. I highly recommend anyone to use them."

"The most challenging part of the job for us was removing all of the furniture from the family room as well as taking up the laminate floor prior to Concrete Jack's arrival. Two workers arrived on time, drilled holes in the slab, injected the foam and "lifted" the slab back to level. Before they left they filled the drilled holes with a concrete mixture. I think their part of the job was finished within an hour. Then my wife and I re-installed the laminate floor and put the furniture back in the room. Our part took many more hours than their part for this particular job. Overall very happy with the result."

"The estimate process was fairly simple. We placed a $1000 deposit. We were given a July 1 start date, that was pushed back to July 20th. On the 20th no one called or showed up or responded to our phone calls regarding why no one showed up to work. After a few emails were sent, someone finally responded and set up the work to start the first week in August. They asked me to choose colors from their website, however it was non-functioning, so I had to search through Facebook for pics, there were only five pictures. I chose a gray patio and Rigo confirmed with a picture of a gray concrete, little did I realize that the picture was two-toned and was an extra charge. When I brought up the charge, he told me that on the original invoice I had signed in May it said that if they did a two-toned stamped patio that it was $350 more. I admitted that I did not remember an invoice from May since it was now August. Furthermore, when he confirmed he did not reiterate that there would be a $350 dollar price increase. We agreed on the middle of the $350 for the work. The patio was installed correctly, however they walked all over my deck which was recently painted an expresso color, they also put their handprints all over the posts. Footprints are up and down my deck stairs and all over it. When asked about it, I was told to wash with soap and water. However after a soap and water wash, and several heavy rains, the concrete did not come off. They said they would show up to fix it with their punch out guy and I am still waiting. It's been almost two months. Their lack of responsiveness and professionalism in completing a job through to the end is surprising considering they pride themselves on being a referral based business with zero to no advertising. Would not recommend them for services and will definitely not use them again."

"After some 22 years, our asphalt driveway needed replacement. When I saw a neighbor getting his "replaced," in the span of about 90 minutes, I asked about what was being done and the cost. Then I saw that other neighbors, on the spot, were having their driveways done, and an entire day was then set for the contractor to do another several.  Though tempted, I did not jump on the deal but rather did some fairly quick homework. (If you are reading this, you are the look before you leap kind, too.) <br /> I discovered that the quick turn firm was overlaying asphalt on top of old asphalt and simply digging out enough old asphalt to blend the garage apron and street apron edges, using wheel barrow loads of asphalt and a few passes with a steam roller.  I later learned that this method might not ensure that old cracks, large & small, will not reappear in the new "top layer" overlaying the old.  <br /> Turns out that the contractor had spotty ratings on more than one online site & noted on his own website that his firm did not "work <br /> with" the Better Business Bureau. These revelations gave me pause. So I checked Angie's List and other online consumer ratings. Top-rated in the Washington, DC metropolitan area is Big Dog Concrete Construction: Excellent ratings and a BBB excellent record. <br /> So, I got in touch with Big Dog, was immediately called back, was visited by their Work Team leader Ramos, received an estimate on the spot, had it confirmed by Big Dog email, and asked for a contract.  All the foregoing was promptly and courteously done by phone, email, and in person. And (ready?) Big Dog's driveway replacement quote matched the "over-layering" price quoted by the quick-turn artist racing through our neighborhood.   <br /> Prior to installation day, the "Miss Utility" folks had already been sent by Big Dog (as Big Dog's email advised) to mark water, <br /> gas, electric & I flagged the "invisible" dog fence. Then the particulars of the work visit were laid out in detail by a second Big Dog email. When the weather forecast deteriorated, Big Dog emailed that, if such materialized, they would contact me to reschedule.  Very complete, concise, and appreciated. <br /> On installation day, the Big Dog crew showed up an hour early with a small convoy of equipment.  One truck brought the Bobcat to remove the old driveway.  Another had a trailer with a steamroller & an asphalt-laying machine with more levers and adjustments than I could fathom. The team, led by Ramos, who had visited to survey the job and provide the estimate, consisted of seven men and every necessary tool plus shovels, drop cloths, traffic cones, boards, edgers, yellow tape, stakes, and a large dump truck full of steaming asphalt. (But, no wheelbarrows.) <br /> The Big Dog crew, in yellow shirts, seemed like a swarm of bees in constant, rapid motion: each had a role; each aided the others; all took direction, though none seemed to need it to get the tasks done.  The entire old driveway was removed with the Bobcat & shovels to bare soil and gravel sub-base.  The new asphalt was applied in an orderly process, using the complex asphalt-laying machine supplemented by shovels to ensure uniformity of application.  The steam rolling was done and done again, with hand tools edging the sides for aesthetic and water-run-off reasons.  Then, all was marked by yellow caution tape and every scrap of material was cleaned up.   <br /> Through it all the crew were professional, friendly, personable, pleasant, willing and able to answer questions -- and did I mention <br /> never not in motion? Nevertheless, this was a full 8-hour job.  Things done right take skill, equipment, and time. <br /> You'll be unsurprised to read that I am very pleased with Big Dog's high quality work and the benefit of a bit of homework that led me to them. <br /> Big Dog Concrete Construction (more that solely concrete construction, you & I now appreciate) is a professional firm that displays high quality from first phone call to final yellow tape attachment. And the team shows what a real work ethic looks like.   <br /> My only suggestion would be that Big Dog work to clone Ramos and his team in the hope that other service providers could achieve this manner of doing business. <br /> <br />"

"Bright Masonry did an EXCEPTIONAL job on our retaining wall, steps and walkway. We had old concrete steps and a walk that was improperly graded. Bright really transformed the front / curb appeal of our home. The retaining wall (about 3’ high) run down the entire 50’or 60’ of sidewalk in front of the house. It’s cinders with stone face and bluestone cap. Beautiful. It will be there for 75 years. The blew out the concrete steps and sidewalk, repoured everything on the right grade and put stone faces on the risers and bluestone treads. New iron railing as well. They refaced a concrete patio with stone and brought the stone all the way into the entryway. Lights on the steps were extra but pretty affordable considering everything else and definitely worth it. They are on a timer. I’ve recvd a TON of compliments from the neighbors. They also removed old railroad tie retaining wall around the driveway and replaced building in new steps. First class job. Can’t say enough about Rui and his team. We paid a lot for the work, but I’m very confident we’ll get it back. And in the meantime, I smile every time I walk out the front door. Highly recommend Bright Construction."

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Fredericksburg, VA

Polished concrete floors offer many benefits with very few drawbacks. While issues like discoloration, stains, or imprints may occur during pouring, these are rare when working with a skilled flooring contractor. Once polished, concrete floors are easy to maintain, long-lasting, and eco-friendly. They also resist mold and moisture, making them ideal for allergy-prone households, and offer versatile design options for both indoor and outdoor use.

Polished concrete flooring is often more affordable than tile. It involves lower material costs and less labor-intensive installation. Tile installations require additional leveling and preparation, which increases labor costs. Opting for concrete flooring helps reduce upfront expenses and provides a durable, stylish finish that saves money over time with minimal maintenance.

While epoxy flooring offers enhanced durability and toughness compared to polished concrete, it comes with higher material and labor costs. If budget is a top priority, polished concrete floors provide a resilient and attractive finish without the premium price tag, making them an ideal choice for value and long-term performance.

Polished concrete floors last 20 years or more when installed by licensed professionals and maintained with proper care. Their enduring finish withstands heavy use and remains visually impressive for decades. Regular deep cleaning and maintenance help safeguard the floor’s integrity, providing homeowners with a long-lasting, cost‐effective solution that endures daily wear without compromising style.

Polished concrete floors increase home value by offering a modern, sleek appearance and exceptional durability. A professionally installed floor not only enhances visual appeal but also minimizes maintenance expenses, making the property more attractive to prospective buyers. This flooring upgrade delivers a refined look while boosting overall market competitiveness and long-term property value.
