"WOW! Groundworks is a great, reliable company! We had the dream team, Ryan, Alejando (Alex) and Jose, working on our home. Ryan kept us informed on what was going on the during the whole project. Ryan and Alex were so reassuring of all our fears and concerns, we knew we were in good hands. Alex and Jose were so polite and talk about hard working!! All three of them went above and beyond, exceeding our expectations, saving some landscaping we didn't expect to be saved. They took great care with our landscaping and yard and did not cause any unexpected damage to any of it! They did a great job with the clean-up at the end of the job as well. These three men worked great together as a team. We were happy to see them everyday and a little sad when we said good bye."

"Purchased a ductless mini split heat pump to serve as the primary main floor heat source in a home we where purchasing that only has electric services, no gas. They came out and measured and looked around, gave us quotes. I wanted a Mitsubishi but the guy talked me into the brand they recommend Carrier saying it would work better. Funny enough now a year later Mitsubishi is what they are pushing on their website. Install went fine, $5,000 later I have it installed. First summer it cannot cool the space to under 75 in the summer running all day, I figure we bought it for heating so cut our losses on the cooling being effective. The first winter, its a mild winter, it cannot heat the house above 68 degrees we have had to use the baseboard heaters and now the next winter install a pellet stove to offset what was a $300-350 heat bill last winter for several months. The mini split was supposed to be efficient and cut our electric bill in the winter but our usage is up from the previous homeowner that actually heated the whole house, we only heat 3 rooms as two bedrooms are empty, we even put the baseboards on a programmable thermostat and have cut back use there. I feel like they over sold the efficiency of the unit and messed up on estimating what size unit we would need for the space to be heated and cooled, it just feels undersized. I reached out to the company several months ago around our 1 year mark and they never got back to me on my issue with it being undersized."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Frenchtown, MT

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
