"We had an old paver patio whose wooden borders had decayed and the pavers had sunk around the edges. The cracks between pavers were full of weeds. Kelly put new borders around the patio, masonry blocks with decorative pavers on top. They removed the weeds, powerwashed the dirt from between the pavers, and added polysand to prevent further problems. It looks great and was a lot cheaper than the bids to replace the whole thing. Kelly worked with my wife to select the color for the border, which she greatly appreciated. His crew was conscientious, thorough, and friendly. Our dog really liked them! "

"Mottern did a fantastic job designing and installing a large flagstone-on-concrete patio for us. The work included excavating and leveling the site, pouring and re-enforcing the slab, and selecting and purchasing the stone, brick and other materials. In addition to the patio, Mottern also filled in an approx. 12 sq/ft section of brick wall where a door had been converted to a window. The filled-in brick and mortar matches the original 50-year old wall perfectly. Overall, the entire Mottern crew was prompt, responsive, professional, and very skillful. We would definitely use Mottern again."

"Removed old concrete patio: This was an old 1963-era concrete slab. Massive. Mike & his team brought in jackhammers and made quick work of it. Waterproofing: Removing the old slab revealed a damaged (and possibly leaking) portion of the house wall, which Mike's team repaired well. Replaced with new patio: Mike's team poured a new cement layer, then installed a new flagstone patio surface on top of that. Also a new step (concrete with flagstone exterior) at the door threshold. They also re-installed an iron railing which had been part of the original patio configuration. The job went well in all respects. We're happy with the team's work and with the new patio. I've worked with Mike and Diversified Contractors several times now. Each time, Mike has had good ideas & suggestions. Each time, his team has demonstrated excellent skills. Again, I'm looking forward to our next project."

"<p>I wasn't sure if I wanted the stamped concrete option verses the pavers when I first started my search so I decided to select a few specialists for both the stamped concrete and the pavers.</p> <p>I quickly decided against the stamped concrete option. It offered far more patio for the money. Yet, the warranties were the worse of the choices.</p> <p>Of the remaining choices for the paver patios, Mike's quote was the highest...and to be quite frank, First Impression Hardscape offered the lowest of square footage for the cost of the possible contractors for the job.</p> <p>Here were the deciding factors for choosing the company that offered a little less patio for a little more money:</p> <p>*I wanted high quality work over considerable size</p> <p>*We decided on Nicolock pavers and the Nicolock manufacturer performed extensive screening prior to deeming the company a recommended contractor</p> <p>*HomeAdvisor also perform extensive background checks and screening and deemed the company a recommended contractor for the job.</p> <p>*First Impression Hardscapes uses many of the suggested techniques the Nicolock manufacturer suggests as "best practices"...So, we got to watch videos on the Nicolock site and knew exactly what steps would be taking to install our patio prior to the actual installation. It was fun knowing the different stages in advance and watching it play out.</p> <p>*First Impression Hardscapes' technique was slightly more extensive then the other contractors. Neither of the other possible choices used edge-restraints. FIH also used something a bit better than the usual poly-sand for insect and weed control.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>When spending thousands of dollars on a project for the home...of which I have little prior experience with soliciting help...the above mentioned factors played a significant part in my decision!!!</p> <p><br /></p> <p>Of course, after any huge purchase decision, a given buyer tends to have a bit of buyer's remorse...Such the case with me...Well, Mike, our primary point of contact, is great with handling buyer's remorse. He's confident about his products and services. Yet, he will let you brainstorm and question EVERYTHING until you've got it out of your system. He endured many many inquiries. He endured so many long-winded emails about the cost, process, color choices. (By the way, I strongly advise against making a color choice from the Nicolock catalog, very deceiving...Best to visit a stone store and see for yourself.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>Well, I went to two stone stores...I didn't speak with a representative either time. I found a color I loved at one store...thinking it was the same as the color I saw in the catalog. Then I went to another store, assuming the display was exactly the same and the same color looked awful. So, we left it up to Mike to choose something he thought was suitable to our taste as well as resale value, and...as life would have it, he ended up choosing the original color that we saw and loved at the first stone store we visited.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>About the actual process. The pavers were laid perfectly. The guys arrived on time each day. They WORKED!!! Great attention to detail. They clearly knew what they were doing and had some training in "professionalism" as well as the actual job at hand. The clean-up effort was as superb as the actual installation!</p> <p><br /></p> <p>They met my expectations...I chose First Impressions because based on the Angie's List reviews as well as the endorsement from highly reputable companies, I felt like I couldn't lose. I felt like I greatly optimized my chances of getting the best quality patio possible by selecting First Impression Hardscapes. "The Job: We had JP Co. of Centreville knock out and replace our old, deteriorated and very long concrete driveway (762 square feet). Same with the carport area (72 feet by 10 feet). They also poured concrete to replace the old pavers that served as the sidewalk (about 25 feet long by 3 feet wide) that runs from the driveway to our front porch. They also replaced a deteriorated brick retaining wall that ran along the carport area, which was about 27 feet long by 25 inches high. We went with a timber retaining wall, which was a little less expensive than a concrete wall would have been, and was way cheaper than bricks or stones. We think the wood wall looks a little &#34;friendlier&#34; than concrete would have (but it will probably not last as long as concrete). The work: JP did an excellent job in all respects. They completed the entire project in two days, and it all came out very nicely. They also cleaned up, leaving no trace of a mess behind. We got three bids for the job, which were all fairly close, but JP was the lowest. And I was impressed with their customer reviews on Checkbook. Our contact was Paulo Nicola, one of the two brothers who co-own the company. A very nice, knowledgeable and helpful guy who was happy to answer our numerous questions and discuss alternatives and prices with us. Highly recommended. Note: we also had JP and two other contractors bid on this job about 5 years ago, but had to delay it when we saw how expensive it would be. Guess what that accomplished? Instead of paying $12,500 five years ago, it cost about $16,500 in April of 2023. So, my advice is: don&#39;t delay your concrete job if you can avoid it -- prices only seem to move in one direction!"

"WOW WOW WOW! That is what you will exclaim with absolute joy and delight as you see your project completed by Moore Designs and Outdoor Living. I did! I am in absolute awe and shock at how wonderful our new backyard looks! John and his incredible team swept in and transformed it from a grassy dump to a cozy masterpiece beckoning family and friends to stop by as it hosts the next big gathering to enchant them with its newfound charm. It&#39;s got soul! I cannot be more pleased by its total resurrection. Some background before the project: The backyard was a hot mess. My fiancé weighs around 270 pounds - the landing and steps leading to the backyard caved inwards and were one of his footsteps away from crashing down altogether. The fence was completely rotted and the gate&#39;s handle broken off: slabs of old wood were drilled in place to keep it closed. Grass and weeds competed to fill in the space within, yet it felt empty and void. It needed reviving. He never left us guessing about anything which earned our trust. Once he surveyed the house and provided us with multiple options on what we could do, we decided on a patio. The patio would encompass the entire backyard to allow for low maintenance and high fun. My indecisiveness reared its ugly head when it was time to choose paver colors. John walked me through all the choices I was thinking about and encouraged me to trust myself. I already knew I had made the right choice in choosing this company, and I now felt confident I made the right choice in materials. The crew sent to complete the jobs were awe-inspiring: if there is a definition for efficient, it is them. They arrived first-thing in the morning for each job. The steps were done the previous week and are gorgeous! No crashing here! The next crew knocked our patio and fence/gate out in two days! We had taken some before photos, and I could not believe the difference. Our new backyard looked like it belonged in a magazine&#39;s best outdoor spaces. Pinterest would be proud! The work is flawless - coming from a perfectionist (another one of my qualities), that speaks volumes!
