"Several days after he came, I went to use the back two burners of my stovetop and they were suddenly not working when they had been working just fine before he came. The front two were still working. He was only to check on the oven's broiler element and fix if necessary. He pulled out the stove, disassembled the top to get to the wires and also then tested the broil at which time he said it was working ok. It seemed that the switch was funky so fiddling with it will make it work ok so he left that alone, reassembled the stove and put it back against he wall between the cabinets. Then quickly moved onto diagnosing the microwave issue as being related to the magnatron which is too expensive to fix. His visit was more a diagnosis than a repair appointment but he was on time, quick and charged me as per expectation. But after he was gone I needed to use the two back burners of my stove and found they were not working. Since they have been totally fine, and it was odd that they both went out the same time, I had to pull out the stove and look at the wiring myself. It turned out that these two back burners were pulled OUT (and in two different locations in the wiring in the back so it is odd). I am not sure how they got unplugged. I plugged them back in, reassembled the stove and pushed it back into place and they are working just fine now. I am not sure if this was a mistake on his part or intentional. I assume a mistake. It was easy enough to fix but was very inconvenient."

"Nick identified the problems (there were actually two leaks), explained the issue to me, and fixed the leaks. I have used Nick at Pacific Crest Plumbing for years and highly recommend him. He has installed a new toilet, replaced our garbage disposal, and fixed blocked drains. Nick is always responsive in his communications, very competent in his work, and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact him for any plumbing issue."

"A few (not a lot) plumbers advertise either in Angie's List or in online phone directories that they are available 24/7 or on weekends, but only two even answered the phone; of those, only M P Plumbing actually had crews available on Saturday (the other well-known company that cleans drains and septic systems said they only had plumbers on duty Monday through Friday).  The M P Plumbing dispatcher answered quickly, got the summary of our problem, and told me a plumber would call within a half hour, and if I didn't hear back to call her again.  That wasn't necessary; well within that half hour, Ryan, one of their plumbers, called.  After explaining the problem to him, he gave me an estimated time of arrival.  About an hour before he arrived, Ryan called again to confirm he'd be coming.  When he arrived, he looked at the problem (a broken 8" pipe inside the wall leading to an outdoor faucet) and got to work right away.  He neatly cut the drywall, something an electrician who replaced our circuit breaker panel didn't do.  He trimmed the broken pipe and soldered in a junction pipe, slightly drilled out the original hole to accept the bigger fitting, and tested the pipe.  Since we paid for a flat two-hour minimum, he also verified the job I did replacing a shower faucet cartridge and adjusted the temperature control stop.  My wife and I are very happy, not only with the work Ryan did, but the great customer service M P Plumbing provided!

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Gales Creek, OR

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
