"We had our appointment scheduled for two days after we reached out to Michael. He arrived promptly at the property to begin the inspection and about an hour or so an assistant came to help with the inspection. The inspectors were here from 9 AM till 3:30 PM and performed a very thorough job. It took two days for the full report to be received and it was full with valid information that we can now work off of. They were friendly, reliable and very trustworthy. Any questions we had were answered on the day or in the report. If we needed further inspections we would definitely hire again!"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Arriving on time he gave us a background and details regarding mold in the house, the introduction of same, the health related issues regarding same and the solutions and methods for removal. Took about 15 minutes and was more interesting than one would imagine. Pleasantly surprised. As he suited up (think moon suit) we had to close all windows and doors per outside ventilation, then he triggered a device to check air levels in our various rooms and moved throughout each room in the house. It reminded me of a Home Blessing! <br />He then took his devices down into our crawl space and remained their for almost 30 minutes; when emerging he informed us that the air in our home was mold free and he so no traces of fungus or mold in the crawl space, however he would inform us completely after his lab ran tests from samples he collected below. In about an hour he had finished. We paid him and about a week or so later we got a 5 page report reporting we have no mold or fungus issues in our abode. <br />This past Winter we had about 10" of rain in as many days and, for the first time, our crawl space was flooded. Two days of sump pump and industrial dryers blowing and sucking our vents mandated his expert analysis for our peace of mind. Also while here he gave us ideas on prevention of flooding as well as how to set up monitors for moisture down below. He also gave us several names of those who could do such work."

"Words of advice-- If you're in escrow and having mold analysis done, post signs so that no moronic realtors leave your home-to-be wide open to the elements. Part of the process for Environcheck's air sample analysis involved comparing inside mold counts to outside mold counts. If some imbecile has left your sliding glass door wide open, then the results can be tremendously skewed. Can you guess what happened to my first appointment with Environcheck? Due to someone else's carelessness, I had to reschedule the mold analysis.. The E-Check people were very understanding and rescheduled the inspection for as soon as possible thereafter. (about 2 days later..) ...They were kind enough not to charge me for their inconvenience. Two days later, the technicians came out and took samples all over the house. The base lab analysis runs around $300-$400 (sorry, receipt isn't in front of me), with at least 3 samples needed (at $95 each).. To be safe, I tested a number of areas in the home (ie: bathrooms, in hopes there wouldn't be any mold from improperly caulked fiberglass shower enclosures. I was lucky-- there wasn't any out-of-the-ordinary readings there.).. I did not feel pressured to test in these additional areas-- that was a personal decision so I could have peace of mind about the new home purchase. The techs also swabbed the mold under the kitchen counter, and were able to take a reading from the wall affected by the buried stucco screed. They were very considerate regarding the hole needed to obtain the sample. Rather than drill a hole into the wall, they were able to take a reading next to an electrical or cable outlet.. (they did need to clearance it a little bit, but that was all covered by the switch plate cover.. no problem there..).. I was told the full analysis for the mold would be done in approximately 3 business days (it took four).. The report was very thorough regarding the specific types of mold (ie: should I be excited that I have penicillin in the wall, rather than some sort of toxic black mold?), though I felt a bit without context since I'm not a scientist. Luckily Steve explained which mold spores were of the "toxic" variety (black mold? I have none, thankfully..), and which mold spores were of the "could be irritating for those who have an allergy to them" variety (thankfully, I have no allergies either..).. What was good, too is that they took moisture readings from a number of different areas around the home. They were able to answer all my questions to my satisfaction. Was I completely satisfied with my experience? Yes and no-- I was glad that the mold in my home was identified (and then successfully taken care of by me and bleach...), but ultimately I felt a bit like Don Quixote tilting at windmills.. The great apprehension I felt regarding the mold was lessened considerably when I found out I did not have black mold.. But, at approximately $1100 (7 samples @ $95 each), it was expensive knowledge that I maybe could have better applied towards remediation.. It's a catch-22, though-- With the proper analysis, it was evident that the mold was an issue I could take care of. If I had called in a mold remediation company, who knows what they would have told me? That's a huge plus for Environcheck-- Their lab analysis is done at their facility, and if I remember the conversation correctly, they do detection and not remediation. This clears them of any sort of conflict of interest you might experience otherwise. (ie: the same company that finds your problem offers to solve it?).. Would I do it again? Yes.. I just wish it was more cost effective.. (the mold analysis run me about the same price as my washer and dryer stack.. or a nice LCD TV.. or a 1967 Plymouth Valiant with a slant six.. dang!!!)"

"<p>If you just want to get a report and no explanation or implications of the report, then I suggest you call Same Day mold testing because that's all you're going to get--a one page report.  NO explanation or follow up about the findings of the report.  However, if you want someone who is VERY knowledgeable in the area of molds and takes the time to explain to you about the process, then you want to call Chuck from One Source.  I wished I had called him the first time around, that way I would have had my mold issue resolved.  He is not only knowledgeable but seems very concerned for my well being.  I called him in the morning and he made his way over to my house later in the evening, going completely out of his way just to give me an inspection.  At the house, he took the time to explain the issue and was very patient with all my questions.  He not only explained everything in great detail but he wanted me to walk away understanding the entire process ie. mold remediation, testing, and insurance claims.   Don't let the purportedly HIGH reviews from the other mold testing facilities fool you, especially one day mold testing.  All they want is your money.  They don't care if you pass the mold test or not. Chuck wants you to pass the mold test and will do what it takes.  He's unlike anyone I've encountered in this kind of profession.  I can't say enough about him.  Please give him a call, you'll be glad you did. Your peace of mind will thank you.</p> <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Garden Grove, CA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
