"We needed to add a door to close off a living space in the house. Brad came out and gave us some great options, did a fantastic job on the installation, and even came back out for an adjustment to make it perfect. If your project involves a door, this is the guy you want! "

"Carlos, Jason and Mario did an excellent job replacing my attic door. Price was agreed upon before they did the work. On the day of the work they showed up promptly. I really appreciated how they kept everything clean and made sure I knew how to operate the attic door and was satisfied before painting and trim work."

"I can't speak highly enough of the work done by King's Home Improvement. I hired them to remove a door and window combination and replace it with a custom french door. King handled the ordering and installation. I now have a quality french door that is well insulated and installed properly. He fixed the deficiencies left by the home builder and I am confident the work was done right. Work was done on time and for the amount quoted. I have even asked for a quote for other work as well."

"Joseph Donabella was the handyman that came and fixed my front door. I have not been able to use my deadbolt for years. Joe took the door off and refit it properly so I can now use my deadbolt again. My door knob lock was also sticking. After he checked it he said I needed to replace the door knob due to its age and suggested I go to a hardware store so I can get the new knob and get it rekeyed to my current key. He was very pleasant and professional. I would work with him again."

"Carlos was friendly, efficient, and communicated well with us throughout the process of replacing our exterior door. He quoted a fair price when he came out for the estimate, provided all the necessary tools for the job, and was even very conscious of the noise/volume (without request). Will definitely look to hire them again for other household projects that require a professional touch."

"I had some wood trim (windows, etc) and a mailbox post that poor shape from weathering, needed repair/replacement and painting. Brinson came out for the estimate and we worked up the list of things to do quickly and talked about options. I neglected to show Brinson one of the windows that needed work (it hides behind a tree so Brinson missed it too) and the front door trim. Brinson also neglected to add the mailbox post to the estimate but I showed it to him and we discussed it. I sent him photos of the second window and door and he worked up a new estimate without a second visit. The work was scheduled quickly and Aaron came out to do the work. He did excellent work even though the weather didn't cooperate. It was planned for two days so he had to come back on Sunday to finish up. I will definitely keep them in mind for future work."

"AMAZING, A+++++ floor patch and baseboards replacement. I had to have my floors treated for black mold and a huge section of the manufactured hardwoods in the kitchen and dining room had to be replaced, along with two dents in the kitchen floor. Nick work tirelessly to find a match for my 2008 Bruce manufactured hardwoods (found. PERFECT MATCH), Timo came and did all the work by hand with precision and artistry in SIX hours. Cannot be more pleased, I am shocked with the beautiful outcome! Thank you so very much!!!"

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Raleigh, NC

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
