"I needed a remodel for my new investment home because it was definitely outdated, the bathrooms, bedrooms the kitchen needed a lot of work. After a lot of research for a contractor, I found Alter Construction and I saw that they had a really nice reviews, so I call to set up an appointment and next day Eli came to see the job. I instantly felt comfortable with him. He is very knowledgeable and he explained me all the process for me to know what to expect. Once the work started I notice their crew cleaned every day before the left, and Eli told me the schedule and sending me pictures of every stage of the work. So I can say I had a very smooth and very enjoyable experience working with them. I would absolutely recommend Alter Construction for your remodeling project."

"The job started on time but finished much later than estimated. The team was made of bunch of polite gentlemen. Different people with different expertise were used as needed. However, i was very disappointed with the detail work. The newly stained oak handrails and posts were left very rough but was finished up nicely on a later date after I made the complaints. The cast iron balusters and shoes were loosely installed. It was mostly fixed later on along with the handrail finish jobs. Above all, the most disappointing experience is that after they were finished installing the hardwood, the floor is making squeaky noise when walked many spots. During the installation I asked them many times why the floor is squeaky? They promised it will not squeak once fully installed. Later I was told different things such as wood on second floor is supposed to be like that, or the ply wood floor of the house was not correctly done by the builder of the house (which is actually true to some extent). However,another expert floor installer told me that they should have caulked the floor b4 installing wooden floor and should have used bucket glue instead of tubes. Whatever it is, the damage is done. It was a $15000 project cost for me. I could have spent some more to make it not make the annoying squeaky sound!

Anyway, they have a one year warranty which is pretty good and am still counting on it!

Oh! And The most annoying of all is trying to contact the office. Nobody ever picks up the phone. It goes to voicemail.
You have to leave a message and pray for a call back. I would have preferred to listen to a waiting music for few minutes and talk to a live person.

PS: The providers response is very unprofessional that i wanted to get more stuff done for free! In fact, after the job was finished, the provider asked for the additional labor hours which was almost double the original estimate. I had no choice but to pay them because I asked for a modification of the original estimated plan. They gave me a 5% discount on labor. I guess they are not suitable for big remodeling jobs after all.

Unfortunately this time I had to change their professionalism rating to F because of their unwelcome response."

"I had some hinges that I wanted him to change out, but turned out I didn’t have enough for all of them. He replaced the ones that I had and left. He was polite and did the work. I wish he would’ve offered to go grab the additional parts I needed, because I didn’t actually get my full 3 hours worth. But he did do a good job."

"Due to the size of our project, Allan and his team spent several months on our property. They were consistently honest, punctual, reliable, and delivered a quality product. My husband and I have flipped a few homes and understand the pains of flakey sub-contractors and shotty work all too well. Working with Allan was a nice break from those headaches. Anytime there were issues or concerns, they were promptly corrected and fairly addressed. I should also mention that they were always clean, which I really appreciated due to us living in the home that was being remodeled. They cleaned up every day after they were done and always kept the job site tidy. What I liked the most about Allan is that he manages his projects himself and checks in on his team's or any subs brought in to direct them and review their completed work. If they did something wrong Allan would point it out and tell us what he was doing to fix it versus hiding it. At the time of our project Allan seemed to run in the mid-range when it came to cost, but the peace of mind and quality work he delivers are well worth it. His team of skilled workers all seemed to have worked for him for years and I'm sure that's due to him paying them fair wages and not using undocumented laborers. During the year + he worked for us, we only saw 1 employee leave and always saw the same faces at our house. I can't say enough about how happy we are now with the finished property and how grateful we are to Allan and team. The decision on who to trust for large, stressful, and expensive home construction project is a big one.
