"It went great, just as Aaron said it would. When some of his employees did the work, he would check it out, and even made them redo if not to his satisfaction. He had some great ideas. He even came back when I thought a plant did look right. It was actually a weed coming up and he just pulled it up and laughed. <br />We chose Aaron from Angie's list because his brother, Mark, had done electrical and contract work when we remodeled. He was very good and did professional work also. <br />Both are very particular and hardworking. <br /> <br />I chose B for price, but I did not get another estimate. So I suppose this was not a fair assessment, but we all want to pay less! lol <br />"

"The project was to install a new pool from scratch. We started in Oct with the design of the pool. Overall the design process went well. The excavation took place in December and the concrete for the walls went in in Jan. From here, the schedule completely fell apart. Despite the amount of money you will pay for the pool, you as the customer will be expected to perform a lot of the oversight of the sub contractors and you are on the hook to clean up after them. March turned into April. By late April, we had figured out that our project manager had left the pool company. Our project made slow progress but by mid May the pool pump equipment was installed. By early June the pool deck was poured and the water was put in by the end of June. Despite having a new project manager, you will not see the PM on days when big events are happening, you will be on your own to make sure the project is put in correctly and that the sub contractors clean up after themselves. It is now late August and the pool has failed county inspection three times for various different issues. Do you expect hiccups along the way on a big project like a pool - Yes and we had quite a few. After all was said and done, A&S corporate headquarters stepped in and is doing what they can to ensure the project gets finished in the manner it should of be. Will you get a pool installed - Yes. Will you have to do a lot of supervision - Yes. However, for the amount of money that you will spend and how long you will look at the final product, I find it difficult to recommend using this company."

"They are outstanding. I think they are one of the best in the whole northern Virginia area. They are professional and trustworthy. The showroom is top of the line. The stone is lined up and tagged. I cannot say enough good things about them. They have integrity. They have high quality products. They are pricey, but worth it."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Gerrardstown, WV

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
