"Completely unexpected 13 days from first contact until roof completed. Living in Colorado most homeowners have had experience dealing with a hail damaged roof. The process doesn't always go quick and clean. We were approached by Patrick Quinn and Andrew Rode about possible hail damage to our roof on 4-13. They completed a pre-inspection to make sure we had damage, and even helped phone in an insurance claim. They were here when the adjuster did his inspection to point out areas of damage that the adjuster might miss. They came back again, to go over the estimate provided by our insurance company and schedule the work. E-mail with crew and dumpster arrival times, tips for keeping items on our interior walls, vehicles and our dog safe were sent the night before. Crew arrived bright and early and immediately began to protect the perimeter from falling debris. In all our checks on the progress of the crew, each time we found a solid team working with precision and skill. Each phase from tear off, pounding in nails before felt placement, drip edge and vent replacement and finally the installation of our new impact resistant shingles went smoothly. We could tell that the work being done was consistent because there was a "shave and a haircut" sound pattern from the nail guns being used. Clean up of the perimeter was thorough and included the big magnet to pick up those stray nails. I haven't found one stray nail in my yard, that is awesome. Andrew followed up with the completed certificate for our insurance company, so hopefully our premiums will go down. Thank you PRQ Exteriors for handling the least painful roof replacement we have ever had!"

"I required the services of a Roofing Organization to remove and replace several damaged Boral Tiles on my home. Part of the services which I required was locating and sourcing the "hard to find" tiles to match my home's roof. Urban Exteriors, (Lyndon) was very responsive, professional with no concern of the size of the project. Within two days the required tiles were located, sourced and installed. I was extremely pleased with Urban Exteriors' professionalism, responsiveness, workmanship! Larry M"

"I do not typically review vendors as I can be a bit critical. However, Chris Oliver (owner of Five Son’s Roofing) deserves all the credit for a job well done. From the moment I met him to the day the job finished), Chris is an old school guy that takes the time to assess your situation and develop an amazing plan. No one could touch the level of intelligence, craftsmanship or patience that Chris exhibits. I would have him do all my house projects if I could. Great around my family, great as a project manager, great under pressure and doesn't stop until the job is done right. Chris and his sons Chris and Mark’s willingness to answer questions make changes sometimes on the fly with no hesitation and always a GREAT ATTITUDE. The professionalism and courtesy they provided was outstanding. In today’s environment regarding getting what you pay for Five Son’s did that and it was refreshing. We would hire them again with no question."

"We had the company replace our roof and gutters. From start to finish, they were clear, concise, efficient and went out of there way to make this experience as easy as possible. Their marketing strategy is on point with current trends. From dealing with the insurance company and HOA forms, to literally walking around the house multiple times to pick up any debris or nails, they are certainly on top of their game. They identified out-dated and underlying issues from the previous installation, then communicated to me that they would bring everything up to code. Their pricing guarantee is outstanding guaranteeing that I will only have to pay my insurance deductible. Anything above that, they cover. Wow! Extra effort example: The project manager on site cleared a path of shingle debris and nails, so I could take my dogs outside, throughout the day. They also donated $100 to a charity of my choosing; The Humane Society being my choice. Overall, the professionalism, promptness, and workmanship is top notch."

The roof replacement wasn't straight forward but Ed Picciano was diligent in pursuing the manufacturer's rep in getting detailed instructions on how to do the roof properly in a manner that would ensure the manufacturer's (GAF) warranty.

The roof had non-soffited eaves and cathedral ceilings so to get proper attic ventilation he had to install the GAF 'Cobra' Intake Pro rooftop vent. This is a relatively new product but it was the ONLY proper way to ventilate the attic without extensive eave re-work.

All through the process Ed kept me appraised of the situation; reassuring us that he would get the job done on budget, on time, and properly. Which he did admirably. Call Climax Roofing-they won't let you down.

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Gilcrest, CO

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
