"Sutton's roofed my ranch house w/attached garage in 2015. I noticed a small water puddle on the garage floor in 2020. The next Monday morning Adam was out to inspect for the source of my problem. He determined that caulk on a vent had lost its seal. He wanted a better caulk than he was carrying on his truck for the repair. He returned after lunch with the right caulk and resealed both garage roof vents. Adam texted me at 2:00 that the repair was complete. I am very pleased with Sutton's standing behind their installation work. In addition to a new roof, the 2015 job as pictured also included windows, doors, siding and interior reconfiguration."

"This was about a week's worth of work. ALL this work improved the look and value of my home tremendously. Enlarging the entrance deck created a totally new look for my Modular Home and the new skirting on the 4"x4" timbers gave such a beautiful, finished look. The lacked gate they built for the entrance onto the deck from the steps is probably one of the best features because it allows me and my dog to set on the deck and I have no fear of her running down the stairs and away into the yard or street. It is a wonderful security feature and it really finished the look of the deck! The new skirting replaced the original 15 year old skirting and has made a huge difference on utility bills. Even though this work was performed over 2 years ago, I wanted to share that Buddy's Mobile Home Services builds beautiful decks/porches, etc. I have had many, many compliments on my new deck and it has certainly changed the entire look of my beautiful home! I'm the envy of the Mobile Home Community! Thanks Buddy! <br />"

"Fantastic! First off, we appreciated Lucky's advice, which saved us a lot of money. He could have just accepted the job and collected the payment, but instead he advised us about cost and value-add options. His guys were professional, did a beautiful job on both projects, always cleaned up at the end of the day, showed up when they said they would, and got through the process with minimal upset to us and our cats (important family members!). We're very happy with the results and the value that the projects add when we go on the market. BTW--the other 4 bidders never bothered to get back to us with bids or decisions not to bid."

"I noticed water dripping from one of my outside faucets when I removed the hose for the winter.  Since the water was filling a 5 gallon bucket rather quickly, I decided that I needed to fix the faucet rather than letting it drip.  Ron and his assistant came to my home on Monday, 10/24/11, and looked at the problem.  He indicated that the leaking faucet needed to be replaced with a frost free one and, because the faucet in the front of the house was the same type of faucet, both should be replaced at the same time.  He arrived on time and worked and was done in 1.5 hours.  I now have two new nondripping outside faucets ready for the winter!"

"This is the third time that I have paid a company to fix my ceiling fans and closet doors. Low and behold they are truly finally fixed. The second company was an established company in springfield and they were terrible. Mr. James came and gave me an estimate for the work I needed done and started on the work that evening and was back the next day to complete the job. Not only did Mr. James do the work in a timely fashion but left my home very clean as opposed to how the other company left my home. Mr. James recommended a solution for a problem with trim in my house and fixed the problem which the other company said they were no able to do. I would highly recommen Mr. James for any home improvement problems. He was not only very professional but priced very reasonable and the work done was excellent. Mr. James will not only do your work needed but he will be very punctual, professional and leave you very pleased with his work. Really call him now. <br />"

"<p>We had a new sunroom installed, and wanted a new concrete patio to go along with it.</p> <p>First, the positives:</p> <p>Contacted Mr. Mabe after seeing him listed here on Angie's List.  He came out to our house, inspected the site, took measurements and gave us a quote.  To his credit Mr. Mabe made some suggestions that improved the design of the patio (like rounding the corners, and such).  He was also flexible enough to alter the proposal to increase the size of the pad at the very last minute (the day they arrived to start excavating.). Additionally, when it became apparent that the BOBCAT that they were using to haul rock and concrete was leaving ruts in my yard, Mr Mabe and his helper used a wheel barrow to move rock and concrete from my front driveway to the rear of our house (to the patio site).</p> <p>Due to delays finishing the installation of our sunroom, we didn't start the patio project until November of 2013. The proposal was signed on November 12th. The actual work started about a week later.</p> <p>The ground was excavated, the forms were laid, and the rock base was spread.  All this went off with out a hitch.</p> <p>Now the negatives:</p> <p>After the forms were laid, and rock spread, the concrete truck arrived to pour the concrete.  Because of the late start of the project, it was now the 3rd week of November and we were trying to finish before the weather turned bad. The day of the pouring, the weatherman predicted rain late that evening. We decided to risk it, and started pouring.  Toward the end of the pouring, it started to rain. Mr Mabe scrambled to finish 'leveling' the concrete before the sun went down. He was kneeling on a pad, trying to trowel the pad as level as he could. When he finished, he didn't have any plastic to cover the new concrete, and had to borrow some from me.</p> <p>When he finished and was packing up, he asked for the balance of his payment (50% of $1300.00).  I told him I didn't like the way he rushed the final troweling (he left obvious trowel marks, and I have a knee-pad impression right in the middle of my pad), and that I wanted to hold 10% of the payment until he came back some other day to finish it.  Mr Mabe gave me a hard-luck story of needing all the money to pay material costs, and offed to annotate the written proposal to say he would "come back after the weekend and patch any areas needed from the rain or resurface the entire pad". I agreed, and gave him the balance of my bill.</p> <p>The following week came and went without any word from Mr Mabe.  I wasn't too upset, the temperature had dropped, and it was unlikely that we would use our new patio until the following spring.  I assumed Mr Mabe would contact me to schedule a return visit. </p> <p>Nothing.  Finally, I called him on the 6th of March, got his voice mail and left a message asking him to call and schedule a return visit.  No response. What followed was a game of me leaving voice mails every few days until the 24th of March, when Mr Mabe returned my called, explained that his cell phone 'broke', and wasn't aware of the calls I had made, and promised to come out in a couple of days.  Nope. Never showed up.  This farce continued.  I would call, leave voice mail, he return my call, and promised to show up. Never did.  Finally, in April (I forget the date), Mr Mabe shows up, and we go to the back yard to look at the concrete pad he poured.  He looked at it, said "That's not too bad, we can fix that", and left.  We have NEVER heard from Mr Mabe since.</p> <p>I am upset with the quality of his workmanship, but I am d*** mad being lied to, direct to my face.</p> <p>Word to the Wise, if you work with this gentleman, under no circumstances, pay the full balance until you are satisfied with his work.   </p> <br />"

"<p>The process went very well. The workers were neat and conscientious. They did a very thorough job. The job was suppose to take maybe 4 weeks, but took more like 8 weeks. Bad weather accounted for some of the delay, but also PPW was trying to get in all the jobs they could before the bad weather hit in November so the crews were stretched thin so that accounted for an extended completion time. </p> <p>What impressed me is that I saw Rick, the owner, at a Home Show this past winter and he said he had driven by our house and wasn't happy with only one coat of stain on most of the house because it dried very light in color. We noticed that as well, but he beat us to the punch! But to no fault of Rick or his crew, our logs our oak and oak has a tendency to be dry and soak up stain and he hadn't worked on a log home before. So Rick said once the weather broke he would be back out with a crew to apply a second coat at no cost to me. So a week ago, Rick and member of his crew who is a professional painter showed up to apply the second coat to almost two-thirds of our house. Three days later the work was done and the second coat was applied. It looked great!</p> <p>Rick and PPW are very professional and care about the job the job. The crews were very good and I never felt like I had to watch them all the time. They knew what they had to do and did it! I would recommend them to anyone who needs a house, deck or anything power washed and stained if the job requires it.</p> <p><br /> </p>"

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Girard, IL

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
