"Paradigm Home Solutions hit a home run in every respect. Complete waterproofing of a wet 600SF basement with French drains and two new pits with sump pumps. Since then the basement has been completely dry. This was part of a whole house remodel: structural, electric, plumbing, gas, etc. Paradigm stands out as the best contractor we dealt with through this entire project. Bob and Andy answer their phones without fail, their crew showed up on the scheduled days, worked hard (real hard) for 2 days straight in the July heat, and made no shortcuts or excuses. When we had a couple of simple questions a few weeks later Bob picked up the phone immediately. I wish all contractors demonstrated this sort of quality, commitment and communication."

"After contacting several contractors who either refused the job or failed to show up to a scheduled appointment I spoke with Brandon who clearly understood what needed to be done and took on the job. He was able to schedule me in at a time that worked for me, showed up right on time and went right to work. The completed job exceeded my expectations in every regard including timeliness, quality of work and even price; coming in over $100 less than his quoted estimate. I plan on hiring A1 again in the near future."

"I had a wall in my basement that was filing up with water from runoff outside. The wall started leaking into my basement. The crew jackhammered a trench along the wall in my basement and installed a drainage pipe, fill and a sump pump. They cemented over the trench and it looks like they were never here. Lots of rain since then and my basement is dry. Timely and professional- highly recommend"

"We could not be happier with choosing Unique Indoor Comfort for our new HVAC system. We found this company by being referred by a client of my husbands. The original duct work in our house was extremely undersized, over working our unit and not creating good airflow to reach the third floor of our town home. Reni came out to our home, and took the time to explain to me options with Unique to really make our new HVAC unit/system efficient and comfortable temperatures in our house. I really appreciated his kindness and patience with me with all my questions. Unique was able to get us scheduled within a week or finalizing the contract, just in time in end of April when the first heat wave hit. It has been almost two months now since Henry and Matt installed our new HVAC system (they both were friendly and did an excellent job) and we are truly enjoying it. With a new baby in the house, it is a relief to have this new unit and ability to cool down our house quickly and efficiently. I know it is a lot interviewing and getting quotes from different HVAC companies - it is a big investment. This company truly stood out for us and were able to work with our budget and our needs for our home. They were the only company who proposed how we could add an additional vent to allow more airflow, and to redo the duct work to the proper sizing for our house and up to code. We are very grateful and HIGHLY recommend Unique. Thank you Reni, Matt and Henry again!"

"The overall service and experience were fine. The only minor issue I had was the company providing the contact info of the service tech coming to provide service. I often do not respond to unknown names or numbers. In fact, the first two times the tech called I did not answer because a strange company name came up not Zoom. The other thing was pricking I felt they were high almost $280 to clear my drain using a snake. The tech was on time friendly cleaned up after himself and prepped the area to avoid leaks. My problem was resolved quickly."

"Waterproofing One did a great job. Steve came Thursday night to estimate the job and had it completed the next day. I could not ask for better service. Drywall needed to be patched, carpeting needed to be removed, and installation of foundation drains out front of our home were installed by two great workers. Work is guaranteed."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Glenside, PA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
