"At 4:00 AM, February 4, 2017, my family was awakened by the fire of my entire circuit box. The light, smell, and crackling of burning circuits from the flames woke me up. I grabbed a fire extinguisher that I reluctantly paid for at Wal-Mart (Kidd brand) for around $50 from the kitchen pantry about 2 months ago, put it out before the drywall caught completely on fire, and had my son call 911 to report the incident. At 7:45 AM I went to Home Advisor and found these guys from Abbeville, called them, and they kept in touch with me by cell phone and showed up within an hour. They replaced the entire circuit box and even came back the following Monday to check and label each breaker to its location. They charged me $1300 total, which was $300 over my insurance company's $1000 deductible, so I won't be filing a claim. I'll fix the drywall myself. They went into the attic to check the wiring and later that same day before dark, we had power again. I highly recommend these guys for electrical service, as it is hard to find a reliable electrician in lower middle Georgia that won't rip you off. The guys are personable, polite, and will even put up with the barking of the two mutt dogs we adopted. They do a jam-up job, and I have FINALLY found electricians I can trust. Believe me, I know. Now to find a plumber who won't rip me off."

"Joan of Ark was amazing! Will definitely call her again! Angi on the other hand NEVER AGAIN!!!! The customer service line is horrible! The wait is ridiculous! The first person they sent out sent an email 90 minutes before it was time for them to come and did not show up, did not call to say they weren't, and did not answer the phone when we called! The second person canceled right at the time they were supposed to show up! I WILL NEVER EVER EVER USE ANGI AGAIN!! I would reach out to Joan of Ark personally for services!!"

"We've got American Home Shield. So that kinda varies but united air temp has done some work for us. Probably a couple years ago, I think so. I think its two years ago. They did work on our air conditioning. Well you know with American Home Shield you only pay $75.00. You sign up for a year , its like something you subscribe to.  You call and contact American Home Shield and they have somebody contact you whose in line with their services and agrees to work with them. You pay $75.00 and if its not done correctly for each visit but if they come back twice you don't pay again. Its like 400 and something a year. Its fabulous, its fabulous. If you need plumbing , H VAC, lighting, its amazing. Its worth every dime. And if they can't fix it they replace it at no charge unless you want to upgrade There are some different companies but even when we refinanced our house they had us, no we bought another house in Winchester for our son. And they made us have it in with our policy and they use American Home shield. its fabulous and you don't have to do the searching or anything, If you aren't happy you just tell American Home shield. One time United Air Temp tried to talk us into , they did some plumbing work too, and they were going try to talk us into replacing it with a cheap model. That isn't American Home Shield policy its with the same thing or you can pay to upgrade. Pay the balance of an upgrade. We use it all the time. When my son has issues with his house I tell him just call American Home Shield. They guarantee they will be out within 72 hrs but its usually within 24 hours. We contacted them last week about my son's air conditioning. They came out right away, they had to order something. They had to come back out and they did last Wednesday and they fixed it."

"It was messy but that is to be expected when working on sheet-rock and carpentry. The work itself turned out very well. The job was to enlarge two closets, repair wood and sheet-rock, install two large doors with mirrors, casing, and paint. Good carpentry work; we had a couple of problems but he immediately asked what we thought and did not try to cover or hide the imperfection. Mr Tolbert was willing to redo a part that was not perfect - his suggestion. That, perhaps, is the most important quality: if something is not right, he will tell you, discuss ways to improve, and redo if necessary. He brought a helper to paint two rooms and the helper too was very professional. I would definitely hire him again to do carpentry, painting and other handyman work. My only 4 star instead of 5 was because it took him a while to get back to me with an estimate and a possible start day - that could be because he is overwhelmed with work. We had expected 4 days of work: 1 per closet, and 1 per painted room. He finished in 3 days (once he got a helper it went faster)."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Glenwood, GA

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
