"The fireplace is old and Jeff the repair man worked for 2 hours on the repairs.  There was a $45 service charge, thermopile replacement charge & a repair charge which all totaled $254.26.  I cannot comment on price as I have no idea what it would have cost if I called another company.  All I know is that it is now running and Jeff who worked on it the entire time he was here. <br />"

"I ordered an Eaton standby generator from Allied Generators working with their sales manager, Roger Heath.  Despite some glitches with Xcel Energy regarding the gas line, and a miscommunication with the electrical inspector, I was extremely pleased with Roger and the company.  They kept in touch with me, worked promptly with Xcel and the inspector to resolve the problems (which were not Allied's fault!) over a period of a couple of months. The Allied folks, which included a plumber and an electrician, were all knowledgeable, professional, and showed up promptly.  I was happy with the whole process. <br /> I had also received some bids from a couple of electricians, and I shudder to think of the problems I would have had should I have taken their bids.  Installation of one of these generators requires some specialized knowlege unique to the generator, and had I gone with a non-specialist, I am afraid I would be engaged in a long fight over who did not do what correctly. <br /> I haven't actually used the generator yet because there have been no power outages, but it did test out perfectly.  I am assuming it will work correctly and I will have no reason to regret this glowing review. <br /> <br />"

"I’m having a tough time with this review. After calling the salesman came out, covered what I believe needed to be covered. I ordered a whole house generator. Later I was called by the lead person (foreman) of the installation team, stating they would be out at 8 AM on 4 August. Sometime after 11AM I called to find out where the install team was. I’m not sure who misunderstood the arrival time however he said they would arrive around noon. The installation seemed to go without a hitch until the electrical inspector arrived the following day. He stated the unit was not grounded properly and he would not approve the installation. I was called by Midwest’s foreman, informed there was an additional three hundred dollar charge to ground the system. There was little else I could do, but pay to have it grounded properly. (I thought they would have known how to ground their own product). Eleven months later sitting at home when the power went out, the generator started up while I sat in the dark. After some time I grabbed a flash light, went to the switch, turned the “fully automatic switch” on. Four hours later the power came back on and the generator turned off. I foolishly thought everything was OK. Two days later while I was out of town the power went off again. I’m not sure how long it was off, long enough that everything in my freezer and refrigerator was ruined. I called Midwest when I returned stating I wanting the switch fixed or replaced. The women on the phone said she would have the service tech call me. I started to get a little upset telling her “I couldn’t tell him anything more than the generator ran and the switch didn’t switch the power on”. She stated “You don’t have a service contract”. I told her the unit wasn’t a year old. She said it had been installed on 4 August. I didn’t want to argue since it was still July and Generac’s sheet says “Warranty Coverage Year(s) 1-2, Parts, Labor and Limited Travel” After bidding her farewell she called me back informed me, for the second time I didn’t have a service contract, then asked what color light the generator had shown. I said it was green, repeated the generator worked great, that the switch didn’t transfer the power. I admit I was getting a little upset. It was starting to appear all they wanted was to sell me a service contract. Somewhat angry I stated “It’s starting to look like you’re not exactly a very reputable company”. She responded “I work here and I can assure you we are”. I at last got off the phone then received a call two days later from a gentleman who questioned me as to what had transpired. I told him my feelings even reading their warranty to him which he said he was unaware of. That afternoon Devin, their service tech arrived. At last a ray of light, common sense and intelligence. He took the switches cover off, started checking the equipment finding a loose control wire connection from the installation. He tightened the three wires, tested the switch three or four times and it worked great. He explained the operation of the generator spending time to give me the basics of the unit. Had this company performed with the excellence Devin did I’d be giving a glowing review. However with the installation mistakes with the grounding, the extra charge to fix it plus the loose control wiring I doubt I'd use them again."

"He came. He saw. He fixed. It was great. My power was out so they came within two hours of my call and made the repairs the same afternoon. They were timely, professional, and courteous. They cleaned up the area when they were done and his assistant, Eric, even got the branch off of the gazebo. The price was very reasonable even before the coupon offered to Angie's List members. "I got home from being in the hospital for 1.5 days and we put our car in the garage Sept 4th afternoon. We heard a odd noise as we walked away from the garage. The right spring broke. We started by calling our door installer from 2011. They were nice and walked us thru a few steps to get the garage door open. They were busy that day in Maple Grove but could only come Sept 8. The referred us to TCGD. <br /> I called them. They sounded like it wouldn't be able to be done that day/it was getting a little late / yet unless it was emergency service. This was approx 1:30-2:00 at the latest Friday afternoon. I went along with this since I didn't like the sounds of having my garage door out of service until Sept 8. So I was expecting someone to come after 5:00 or so since this was their office hours on their website. They said a person would call when they were on the way. They showed up without calling about 3:05-3:10 Friday afternoon. The person was totally finished and showing me the paperwork at 3:40 or before. He showed me the paperwork and it showed $403. I thought  the total shouldit be less since this couldn't be emergency service this early. I called the office later they said most field workers work from 7:00-3:00/3:30. Emergency rates start at 3:00 PM. I have never faced this with any home repair in my life. A little early when the office is open until 5:00. The installer said he had 40 hours in by Wednesday. I think I was put in the Overtime pool. The installer on my left spring looked used and rusty. I was informed it wasn't used. The springs come that way on a pallet then they can be pulled against each other in the truck. It looked in a lot tougher shape then the right spring. Rust was normal too. This spring looked tougher than my non-rusty spring that had broke. The safety cable on the right side was all twisted. It wasn't apparent what it could do all twisted up. <br /> No Angies List discount unless you purchase one of the deals ahead of time. <br /> The second time they were going sending out the same installer after ordering an different spring. I said I would rather have someone else/another set of eyes. They said they could do that.  A second installer came back Friday Sept 11th was supposed to call. He showed up at 1:00. He replaced the tough looking new left spring the other installer had put in. He adjusted the safety cable so it wasn't twisted/crossovered. He also lubed the springs. It makes them look alot better and stronger. <br /> Tonight I noticed a bulge (not bent) in one of the pieces of the garage door as the car head lights. I'm curious if something it too tight. I don't recall the door having this before. Unsure what is up with that yet. I may want them to look at this too. Something with the spring may be pulling too tight. <br /> The most aggravating thing I would like to have adjusted/reduced on my credit card is the price I paid for the Emergency Service ($150-$200 higher) at 3:07 PM (then done in under a 1/2 hours) on a Friday afternoon and alot of the work was re-worked or improved by the second installer on Sept 11th. The quality work was done during non-emergency service 1:00 PM Friday Sept 11th. <br /> This was my experience with this company. <br /> <br />"

"Our electrician, Chris, was fabulous. Not only did he do all of the work professionally and timely, he also took the time to show us how to change to a GFI outlet in other areas of the house. We recently had a brand new peninsula built and new floors installed in our kitchen and asked him to put in an outlet at the end of the peninsula. Instead of drilling through the new floor for the wiring (as the flooring guys said would need to happen), he took the time to rin the line from the wall, inside the cabinets, securing it to the top and encasing it in a metal tubing to protect it--great job. Thankfully, he was agile enough to fit into our attic to run the other wiring needed! <br />"
