"Pat met with me approximately 1 month before performing the job to provide a quote.  He was right on time, and explained in detail what was needed to repair the section of driveway that was sinking and falling apart.  His written quote was detailed and clear.  He was honest, and only recommended replacement of the defective section (others pushed to replace the whole driveway).  His quote was not the cheapest (all quotes for partial repair were within $100 though), but his approach to my problem and his demeanour easily made up for the small difference in price.  Pat arranged a time to start, and was very prompt.  The weather was iffy, but he was able to complete the repair in less time than he estimated, and before the weather turned bad.  He returned about 2 days later, after the new asphalt cured a bit, to finish with the sealcoating of the entire driveway.  Pat returned a day later to explain the curing process for our new section of driveway and to answer any questions we had.  I am very pleased with the repair, and will continue to use DeBottis for my driveway maintenance. <br />"

"Marc and his team at Exotic Pavers completed, on a time, a fantastic paving job. Due to erosion, all the pavers had to be replaced in our front and back yards. The team was courteous, responsive to my requests, and careful with our landscaping and lawn. Marc offered great aesthetic recommendations, and estimated the job quite accurately. I had received 4 other bids for this job, and Marc's estimate and proposal was the most thorough. I would absolutely hire them again!"

"Their price wasn't the lowest, or highest of the 5 bids we received. The bids ranged from $6,000 to $16,500.  The low bidder asked me no questions after finding out what color and type of siding I wanted.  Motor City Builders had more reviews than any other "A" rated siding contractor. <br /> The owner asked me a lot of questions about what we wanted, and why we wanted it the way we did.  The questions were very detailed.  He explained that vertical board-and-batten siding was difficult to find in the dark brown color  we wanted (in order to match our garage).  He also explained that vertical siding was more expensive to install for 2 reasons, about a 15% wastage on 10 foot lengths of siding and increased labor to install.  He gave me a full explanation of what would be done, and how.  He showed me examples of poor execution on a similar job done on our garage by a different contractor several years ago.  He was quite knowledgeable.  It took him some time to find the right color to match the older siding on the garage. <br /> He predicted a late November start for the job, but was able to get a crew out 2 weeks earlier.  The job was done in 5 days and the house looks beautiful.  I would recommend Motor City Builders highly. <br /> <br />"

"It was not the greatest experience for us. I did like that they sent out a color specialist to help us in selecting a paint color and scheduling was very easy. However, the quality of the work was not the best and it seemed like they were in a rush. Two painters came out to do the work and it took about 8 hours to complete everything."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Grand Blanc, MI

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
