"Overall, the work was done well, and the price was fair. Guiseppe - their tile guy - did a fantastic job on the tiling, Steven was awesome with the electrical, and Michael Bedard was excellent with the walls. However, clear communication and transparency were lacking. We would suggest this company to someone who is more experienced with renovations or wants a hands off experience. With that in mind, one should not be afraid to ask questions and advocate for themselves to ensure the work is done to your satisfaction. Communication: This was our first major home renovation, and we had no experience with the specifics of a bathroom remodel at the start. However, we are both detail oriented, and wanted to know what was being done and how things were "supposed" to look at different stages. Asking specific questions was not always appreciated by the lead contractor, although the workers were very friendly and helpful. Specifically, we found three small errors during the project - a hole in adjoining wall, a minor hole in the grout, and an incredibly slow leak from a valve. These were not problematic, and they were all fixed before the project was completed at no cost to us. However, when we asked about these during the project, we were either not believed initially or received an annoyed response. Again, this was simply a lack of communication and professionalism, not a problem with the work or the price. Also related to communication, there were many instances where details needed to be repeated although they were already in writing or had been agreed upon in advance. Transparency: Throughout the project we had many instances of not knowing what the plan was or whether there was one. As mentioned, we did not know when work would start/end each day (specialists started early, but others often didn't start until 11 AM). An itemized quote was provided and adhered to, but not until about 1/2 way through the project because materials had not been obtained (this did not hold the project up, simply delayed the quote). Again, the project was completed well and at a fair price. I don't want to discourage people from using Plumb Perfect for simple jobs for a good price, especially if you are having a hard time getting the larger companies to talk to you, which we know from experience happens. Just be prepared to deal with what we feel is lower than average customer service and some quirks that are part of that package."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Grand Isle, VT

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
