"James and his crew have done a couple of different jobs for me. One was removal and install of a garage floor and the other was prep and installed a new sidewalk. Including hauling away all waste material. "

"I used Greater Michigan Movers a few weeks ago for a move of a 3 bedroom home. I was very impressed with their prompt arrival and efficient ability to carefully and quickly move all of my household items. Furniture was wrapped and handled very carefully. There was NO damage to any of the items or my new and old home. This kind of careful handling is hard to find. The men on the crew were very personable and friendly. It was so easy to work with them. I've done many moves across the country and this was one of the best experiences I've had. Setting up the move with Jerry was also a breeze! Do yourself a favor and hire this company for any moving needs. I highly recommend you select Greater Michigan Movers for any upcoming move! These guys are pros and hard workers! Thanks guys."

"It was a long haul move and the company arrived and delivered the items as agreed. They took care not to damage or break delicate items, including a crystal chandelier, and unpacked the furniture for me at the destination -- all for a fair price. I would definitely hire them again."

"Easy and fast from start to finish. Great communication from the office and the driver. I placed my order over the phone and was helped by, Mary Carabal. She was knowledgeable and professional. She answered my questions and followed up through emails and phone calls throughout the whole process. My Jeep was picked up from a auction yard and dropped off right in my driveway. This was my first time hiring a auto transporter and everything went great. I would recommend National Express and I will use them again in the future."

"Jim is quite the professional. He was prompt and explained the work to be done, how long it would take and the overall price. He met all my expectations. His helper was also polite and respectful. When the job was done you would have never known that he'd been there - he cleaned the area just as he found it. I would defintely hire him again."

FAQs for waste, junk, building materials and debris removal and hauling projects in Grand Junction, MI

To throw out stained, broken, or infested mattresses or couches, call a junk hauler or take it to your local landfill yourself. If it’s infested with pests, you might want to call a pest control specialist near you. If you have infested furniture, there's a good chance you have an infested home, too.

Tipping furniture removal services is not mandatory, but it is a thoughtful way to acknowledge their hard work and professionalism. If you're pleased with the service, consider tipping junk haulers 5% to 10% of the total cost or $10 to $20 per worker. This is especially appreciated when the job involves heavy lifting, navigating stairs, or handling bulky items. Tipping not only rewards the workers for a job well done but also fosters a positive working relationship.

If your furniture is in good condition, you have a few options:

  • Donate to charities: Organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and GreenDrop often accept furniture donations and may offer free pickup services.

  • List online: You can list your items for free on local online marketplaces or community groups to find someone who needs them. Giving away your furniture not only helps you clear space but also benefits others in your community.

The cost to haul away junk depends on the haul’s size. A single item costs $60 to $150 to haul, with each additional item adding $20 to $40 to the total price. Hauling away a full truckload of trash or other junk will run $400 to $800.

Yes, some furniture retailers will haul away your old furniture when they deliver your new items. This service may be included in your purchase price or offered at a discounted rate. It's important to check with the store to see if they provide furniture removal and whether there are any requirements, such as a minimum purchase. Utilizing this service can save you time and effort in disposing of your old furniture.

In many cases, you can dispose of furniture in a dumpster, but regulations vary by location. Some areas prohibit items like mattresses or upholstered furniture due to environmental concerns. It's best to check with your local waste management authorities or dumpster rental company to understand what's allowed.
