"This is the third carpet Maloney has installed for us, so obviously we trust them to do a good job. And we were not disappointed this time. We thought the result was top notch and the guys on the crew were friendly and courteous. Lowell and Tom at the store were also very helpful and answered all our questions."

"Young Tim (jr) removed carpeting and padding in one of our larger rooms with an assistant. They worked quickly and efficiently and did the job well. They hauled away the debris and cleaned up too. Tim came back a week later (my preferred schedule) to install new carpeting after I had the opportunity to do some work myself on the floor. They communicated well (phone and text messaging) regarding the work time and arrived on schedule. The work was well done. No problems. They seemed like nice folks - friendly and polite, responsive to my requests, and with a fair price for the work done. I would gladly have them do work for me again. T <br /> <br />"

"It took some time for me to settle on the color; we finally decided to do a two color custom design. Paul ordered everything, after verifying the measurements, and the install date was set up. Our installer, who has done work for us before, was right on time. He removed the appliances..including the dishwasher, and got to work. <br /> Our kitchen is octagonal and this custom design took a lot of measuring and cutting. In the end, it was perfect. <br /> <br /> We have used Carpetman for close to 20 years now. All of our carpet, tile, vinyl comes from them; when we remodeled our cottage, we got our tile and carpet from them as well. In all of the years everything has been perfect, seriously. In fact, one year, after having my carpets cleaned upstairs, it was obvious that the carpets needed to be re-stretched; I called and someone was out the next day to take care of it for me. <br /> <br /> I've recommended Carpetman to many, many people. High quality, great prices, honest transactions and superior install; you can't get better."

"Yvonne and the staff at American Flooring were extremely knowledgeable and helpful when we needed to replace carpeting in our home. I told Yvonne what I was looking for, and with so many flooring options today, she listened to my needs and gave great options to choose from. I was able to take home samples, which really helped in making a decision. The installers were very professional and our carpet looks great! We are planning on building a new home in the future and we will definitely use American Flooring in Okemos!"

"After receiving three bids, we decided to work with Brad and Lauri of Carpentry Plus and we are so glad we did. The remodel was comprised of about 2/3 of our downstairs space including the kitchen, dining room, laundry room, 1/2 bath and the adjoining hallway, plus the flooring in our foyer and sunporch. We were extremely happy with the quality of their work, the consistent professionalism and thoughtful care and advice as we worked through a complex project. The work included removal of walls, reworking air runs, lots of wood working including matching colors, installing new cabinets and countertops, new flooring, paint, electrical, plumbing and new windows. Carpentry Plus provided many great ideas, was flexible, which was necessary as the project took place during the COVID-19 shut-down and treated our project as if it was their own home. We have already signed up for some additional projects with them and expect that Carpentry Plus to be our go-to contractor in the future."

"Everything was fantastic on that except for some wood flooring installation. The products were awesome. The guy that did the tile was great. The carpet guy was great. The guy that did the wood floor wasn't so great. He worked for Williams. He took out the old wood floor and put in the new one through the whole house. It took him a couple of weeks, and the wood was not cheap because, of what we had picked out. The lady in the salesroom was great, knowledgeable, and got me fantastic deals. She helped out a great deal and she was top-notch. The installers were top-notch except for the guy that installed the wood floor. The company overall was good and the prices were great."

"Everyone was very easy to work with, and professional. They always showed up on time on the days they were working on our floors, and stayed pretty late the last day to get it all done for us. They found a couple issues that had previously existed in the house that we hadn't known about, like water coming in the sliding door in the dining room, and water leaking out from the washing machine. They stopped what they were doing to point out these issues to us, and waited to finish so that everything was dried out and taken care of properly, even though it set them back on their schedule. We are so grateful that they were so honest with us. There was also an issue with a crack in one our toilets that we hadn't noticed before, and they installed a new one for us, and hauled away the old one. Even though the whole project ended up taking longer than expected because of some of these issues discovered along the way, they still honored their original estimate. They were very flexible and easy-going with changes we made along the way, and they did a very nice job on all the work. Now, 7 months later, we are still very happy with our floors, and happy we went with Four Seasons Installation. The only reason we gave a "B" in quality is because there are a couple isolated places in the floors where there are very small gaps (you don't notice unless you're looking for them), where the two planks aren't quite snapped all the way together. However, this has not been an issue for us thus far, and the price was so reasonable and they were so easy to work with that we didn't have the heart to call them back about it. (I am confident they would have come fix it if we had called them and pointed it out.) We have already recommended Four Seasons Installation to multiple people, and would certainly recommend them to you. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Grand Ledge, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
