"Very professional. Work was completed as promised (sidewalk replacement). Concrete truck was 3 hours overdue MTZ worked until after dark. Clean up was wonderful. They were able to clean up all residual concrete pieces on the lawn and even placed the mulch back in place. Would definitely recommend and use again if needed."

"I am very, very pleased. Mitch worked with me to keep my cost down and allowed a number of choices for me to do so. The job was done very quickly and the team was a group of very polite and hardworking men who are very good at what they do. Mitch is thorough and when two of the paving stones cracked, he came back and personally reset the new ones. Mitch also provided me advise for how I can improve the path next year. I would not hesitate to hire him again and will recommend his crew to others."

"He did an excellent job. He explained the repairs he was planning to do to our walkway and how it would keep the the damage from happening again. I f there were any problems he told us to give him a call. I had total confidence in his skills and workmanship. Our questions were thoroughly answered. I feel much safer walking down our walkway now. What a pleasure to have a friendly and respectful person to work with and..... it's good to see our walkway back to beautiful."

"Prompt quote and answered questions I had. They called night before, showed up on time next day, removed old driveway, smoothed and compacted base. Came two days later (delayed by rain) and poured new asphalt, rolled and compacted. No damage to adjacent garden or trees. Workers were friendly, knowledgable, and professional. I appreciated the extra care they took. Cleaned up afterwards. Received a little book about caring for our new driveway. <br />"

"Warm and Dry LTD was a absolute pleasure to work with. After purchasing a home and discovering foundation issues, we were concerned about repairs and options. JP was very clear with the work that needed to be completed, explained the job in a meaningful way and made our decision to use Warm and Dry very easy. JP and his crew were able to start on the job right away and provided excellent service and clean up after the job was completed. During the course of the project we discovered another issue on the opposing side of our home, JP again provided a quick quote that was reasonable and the right solution for the issue. I highly recommend Warm and Dry LTD, JP and the entire crew went above and beyond to help us with our ever evolving project. Thank you JP!!!!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Grand Rapids, OH

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
