"We updated old thermofoil cabinets with a shaker style thermofoil doors, crown molding and a new backsplash. Rick and his installer take great care and pride in their work. We did not want to go through a major renovation and liked our existing Silestone countertops. Rick made it look like a new kitchen without the strain of a major renovation."

"The refacing quote was fairly priced and we are very happy with the quality. Rick runs the whole show and does everything himself. There is no middleman, sales person, or any other people you need to talk to during the job. Rick was professional, and very detail oriented - which is a must for cabinets. He took the time to do everything right, and it turned out amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cabinet Refacing by Design to anyone."

"This whole process from start to finish was so easy! I recently bought a home that has some dated white cabinets. I called Cabinet Solutions just to see what they could do. I was happy to see they had plenty of choices that fit my (small) budget. Elaine, who measured the for the new cabinet doors and provided me a quote was great to work with. They started the installation exactly when she said they would and the whole process took about  a day and a half, which is exactly what she promosied.  John who came to do the install was polite and did an excellent job. I'll definately use them again! <br />"

"The staff was easy to work with when fabric samples were ordered and finishing details had to be decided. Jeff's knowledge of furniture design, from all eras, made the planning fun and informative. Our chrome and fabric sofa came back looking better than we could have envisioned. The pick-up schedule and completion date were very accurate."

"We were looking to update the and quot;pickledand quot; maple cabinets in our kitchen. After looking into cabinet refinishing, refacing and complete replacement, we decided to repaint (most cost-effective option). We received a fair, no-nonsense quote from Mr. Voss Sr. to paint the cabinets and got advice on adding crown moulding, paint color and finish (go with the high gloss). We picked the color we wanted from the paint manufacturer catalog at the paint store used by Voss and scheduled two dates: the first to pick up the cabinet doors and drawer fronts for painting, the second two weeks later to paint the cabinets and return the doors and drawers. Mr. Voss Sr. was prompt and professional on both occasions. He and his son taped off the kitchen and painted the cabinets in record time without any overspray. The cabinets turned out fantastic! The only issue was an accidentally torn window screen, which they identified and replaced without being asked. I highly recommend using Voss Spray Painting if you're considering painting your cabinets! <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Granite City, IL

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
