"The whole process went extremely well. It was a pleasure working with Madi and selecting the right color, and Michael and his crew did an excellent job installing the carpet and placing all the furniture back perfectly. Would highly recommend Key Carpet!"

"This company did an excellent job. They were especially careful as they tore out the old kitchen floor and installed a new ceramic tile floor. They were very attentive to detail throughout the entire job. My wife and I were extremely pleased with the installers and the final ceramic tile floor. I would recommend them to anyone."

"We were very pleased with the service, both at the store as we selected the tiles, and with the installation. A subcontractor did the install, but the individual who estimated and the installers who did the work were very professional and easy to have around the house. The floor is beautiful, and the work they put into the whole process really shows. We did have a miscommunication at the outset when the installation crew didn't know that we wanted the old vinyl floor and subfloor removed, but that was resolved with a minor adjustment in cost, and the crew worked the extra day of labor into their schedule and finished on time. The installers also seem to have done a very nice job of taking care of some ugly squeaks and non-level places in the floor. The price was very fair for the work and the product, but I wouldn't call it a bargain. <br />"

"We had our entire first floor re carpeted and laminate flooring installed about a year ago. There have been three occasions where issues have come up and needed to be repaired, including some damage during installation do to removal of old ceramic tile. Each time we called the store, the owner came out quickly, once even the same day we called. We have never been told they were not responsible or that it wasn't covered. I have dealt with many other flooring service providers (one that I had personally known for over 20 years) and this is rare by anyones standards a year after the sale. I would highly recommend this company based on the level of service that they have provided to me and will definitely use them in the future. <br />"

"The sales person was an older gentleman who was quite knowledgeable and  had been in the carpet industry for 35-40 years. We felt comfortable talking to him about various types and colors of carpets. He came out to the house and measured. What I was really impressed with was that after it was installed he was very close with his measurements. We didn't pay for carpet that we didn't use. The installation was very efficient. It was done when they said it would be done. We were really happy with the service. He had good communication and was very accommodating. The guys he had do it were very efficient and got the job done."

"They arrived on time. They were very careful when bringing all the equipment in and they cleaned up before they left due to rain. Our floors needed a lot of love and when they were finished, they looked brand-new. We were pleased with the outcome and their customer service. Thank you so much!"

"This is the second time we have had Clark Flooring do the floors at our home. Pricing was slightly better than the competition. Jackie and the sales staff are very easy to work with. The installation crew was also very good - on schedule, minimal mess, excellent results. The floors look great ! The entire process was a very good experience."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Granite City, IL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
