Cox Custom Remodeling opened its doors in 2009, when the economy was dealing the construction trade its blows, and remodeling work was hard to find. We have been a company on the grow ever since. Our clients appreciate our candid attitude and straight up pricing. James and his crew offer master carpentry in all areas of home improvement. With over a decade of experience, James will provide you with the skill, quality craftsmanship, organization, and professionalism, that is needed to bring your home improvement vision to realization. James has an excellent relationship with a variety of home improvement subcontractors and a local lumber yard & home improvement store. Cox Custom Remodeling is your one call provider for any construction & remodeling venture. Also serving surrounding areas in Puget Sound.

"James and his crew at Cox Custom Remodeling did a great job with our bathroom remodel. Our house was built in 1900 and the nonstandard framing made things more complicated. His lead, Dan was particularly great, taking the extra time to understand components we picked that were new to him. James always had a positive attitude, showed up when he indicated and got things done. Low dust, protection for floors and respect for the rest of the house while the construction was going on. James also provided the best tile guy, Eugene, that did a fantastic job with natural stone and the complicated very fragile mosaic. We would definitely use Cox Custom Remodeling again. Great job guys!"

Seattle Patio Covers, has provided Sunrooms, Solariums, Conservatories, Pool Enclosures, Spa Enclosures, and Patio Covers and Glass Systems to the Greater Seattle area, and Pacific Northwest since 2004.

"Wes was amazing to work with. His products are top quality at a reasonable price. No wonder there are many home owners these days are working with him. He made it even better for us when he called me to let me know he can install the patio cover 2+ weeks ahead of our initial schedule. These made our weekend and the weeks that followed...Overall I would highly recommend working with Wes if anyone is thinking about putting a cover in their patio."

I chose to work in this industry because I have always loved being able to stand back at the end of a job and see how we made dreams a reality. We started in this industry in 2002. We describe our business as Rooted in the Community.

"I hired DB Construction to build my new home. First the quote purposely left out many thing that they could charge me for that I would have thought would be included, equipment needed, like truck and trailer, and excavating equipment. Plus the house quote did not quote a finished house, but just the shell with sheetrock, then everything else cost way more than a fair price. The build dragged on for about 20 months. Derek said it was the subs fault, but when I talked to the subs they had a different story. Derek was using the money I paid him for something other than my job. He said he had paid for things he had not even ordered, and when I needed them, they were not available. He was charging me for things he said he bought for my house ,but would not show me the bills. when I pushed and pushed I found that he had overcharge me on many things by adding more than a standard management markup and in some cases he charged me for things that I had already paid for. Now I'm dealing with two big issues, I have had calls from two subs saying they were getting ready to put a lien on my property for material that I paid Derek for in 2016 and they had not been paid by the end of 2017 yet. I keep trying to get Derek to provide me with lien releases for my project, but have not received them yet in 2018. I am also not getting DB Construction to fix the items I paid and they have not fixed the punch list yet. There is major cracking (1/4 inch) in many of the rooms where the roof trusses have shifted or sagged. Cracking and dropping of ceiling has caused my closet door not to close anymore. The Project is at least 1k over what it should have cost and the garage is not finished. I have had to hire someone else to finish the work. If you do decide to hire him for anything, be sure to get every detail in writing and definitely get a penalty in the contract for not completing on time. Since my project was over a year behind, and in fact never finished. Also lock down the management fee and what you will and won't pay for such as (drinking water, fixing their mistakes, tools or saw blades they need, and alway only hire him on a bid for the job, not time and material. Anything extra you want, get it in writing what it will cost and how much time it will add to the project. His worker are very nice, but don't expect to see Derek out at the project. He almost never visited the site of my project."

When I started my company over 10 years ago, there were three things that I vowed to provide to my customers: quality, integrity, and style. I have been working in the Seattle area with over 20 years of experience. I take pride in my work and I believe that it is an extension of myself. I enjoy finding creative solutions and building things to last in the Pacific Northwest.

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Granite Falls, WA

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
