"Totally understood the work to be done on a 150 year old post and beam barn. Was able to develop solutions for unforseen problems that were encountered. Adhered to the original estimate with some additional work incorporated at an acceptable increase. Very pleasant and professional to deal with. Highly recommend and would hire again."

"AIS removed an old room and deck and built us a large outdoor room with two pergolas including a large TV wall, fireplace, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, granite counter tops, custom lighting throughout. They did an excellent job! Parks and Aubrey was great to work with and always had good ideas when we needed them. Rodney's crew did the custom framing and always accommodated any changes that came along. They're good people to work with. You can't go wrong using AIS on your next project."

"Tim did a superb job of tearing out the old, putting in the new and repairing the active wet spots in the kitchen ceiling. I feel that his estimates were fair and reasonable and the craftsmanship was a world of difference from the previous subpar job I had done. He is very timely, works consistently and stays on schedule. I can't say enough how happy I am with his end result on this project! I'll be having him back to do another bathroom soon!"

"I wanted this work to be done before family arrived. Steven even worked on Sunday to get my project done in time. They were very neat and the grout refresher looks great. The work required longer than initially anticipated but Steven did not charge anything above his initial estimate."

Customers say: Quality work

"The profile for Holy Roller is lengthy and is misleading. As a consumer, you would want to trust that what is listed on the company's profile is work that can be accomplished in a satisfactory manner for all parties. I hired Holy Roller to paint a pergola and refurbish an existing patio. Holy Roller spent months on my project, leaving me without the use of my patio. I fully paid Holy Roller, but the project was never completed. Appointments were cancelled, incorrect paint was used, the company couldn't strip the paint they applied that had chipped and peeled. Construction debris was left on my property. I enlisted the Better Business Bureau's help and took Holy Roller to Arbitration. An Arbitration hearing was conducted at the office of the BBB and I received an Arbitration Award against Jim C./Holy Roller. The money was to be paid by November 1, 2018. Jim Cole has not abided by the Arbitrator's Ruling. I spent thousands of dollars with a reputable company to fix the workmanship of Holy Roller Painting. The new company removed all work done by Holy Roller and gave me a new patio within 36 hours. Please do your research before hiring this company."

Small jobs welcome

"Gary was awesome to work with! He built me a very sturdy privacy fence in my backyard, with 3 gates. He even offered to do a few extra jobs around the perimeter of the home, which I really appreciated. Hard worker & always on time, good communication & true to his word."

"We hired Diamond in the Rough Construction for a home addition, and while the finished result looks good at first glance, the process was full of issues and cost us much more than expected. We chose Diamond because of Abby, the salesperson, who was incredibly helpful and responsive. However, she left midway through the project, and we missed her support. Addison, the project manager, did his best but was left to handle more than he should have. The owners, Joe and Mike, were completely absent ? no check-ins or follow-ups, even when major issues arose. There were significant mistakes, like framing the windows to the wrong size, and we were blamed for "approving the wrong windows." HVAC was also forgotten until after construction started, forcing us to pay thousands more. The trim was poorly finished with putty that didn?t match the color of the pre-painted trim, and the solution was simply to cover the nail holes with a paint pen. In the end, we can?t recommend Diamond in the Rough"

Customers say: Quick response

"Edit: the business has reached out to us following this review, and agreed to pay to regrout. This matter is satisfactorily resolved. Anyone looking for a home renovation, avoid Mankind LLC. We had a long nightmare of an experience with them renovating bathrooms for us. The grout never set properly in one bathroom and they refused to take responsibility for it. Not to mention the water leaks they caused into rooms below in 2 different places both during, and after, construction was completed. If you want your brand new shower to look like this when it is wet, and to be told by your contractor that it is normal and nothing is wrong with the job they did, go ahead and hire. It continues to run color and be able to be scraped off the grout line with a fingernail when wet months after the work has been completed, and after multiple applications of grout sealant. We will have to pay out of pocket to have this resolved after going through many months of argument with the owner over why he feels the result is satisfactory and not caused by anything they did incorrectly. We gave them every opportunity to do the right thing and resolve this, including waiting weeks for a representative of the grout manufacturer to come out and inspect to state whether it was soft set (it was) and if it was due to manufacturing error with the grout batch (it was not). Ultimately we hired someone else to repair the water damage, as we no longer trusted them to do any further work in our home. When we have the available funds, we will have to hire another company to have the grout replaced and done correctly."

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Granville, OH

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
