"Bill and his crew repaired a badly broken front step (brick foundation with bluestone treads). They essentially rebuilt the foundation, replaced 3 treads, and installed a new railing. Very pleased with the results. Would definitely hire again."

"It took a little longer than anticipated, but the over all work was done to my satisfaction.
I originally picked the paint color off the website and after they painted the first coat, I didn't like it, but I asked them to repaint with a new color and it was done as I requested."

"I couldn’t be happier with the flooring job! From start to finish, everything was handled professionally and efficiently. They showed up on time, communicated clearly throughout the process, and paid great attention to detail. The floors look absolutely amazing — smooth, level, and perfectly installed. You can really tell they take pride in their work. They kept the area clean, respected my home, and made sure everything was done right before leaving. If you’re looking for someone reliable who delivers high-quality results, I highly recommend them. I would definitely hire them again!"

"Tyler was amazing! I smelled urine in the basement and couldn’t figure it out. Tyler came out the next day and found a leak in our toilet. That smell unfortunately ended up being urine which ate through the wood paneling under our bathroom floor tile. He replaced the needed wood panels, put all new flooring in, replaced the toilet and popped in a new vanity all with in just 2 days. Thanks Tyler!"

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Groton, CT

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
