"This was a great experience from start to finish. They arrived on time got and got the work done with zero mess even though this involves drilling a large hole in the basement floor. The system did what it’s supposed to do and reduced radon levels to almost 0. I am very happy with this company and would highly recommended them. The price was great too."

"Eric contacted me shortly after searching Angie's List. I described what I needed, a radon mitigation system, and he provided a written estimate via email. Much lower than what I expected. Eric was able to come out in a few days and install the system. Installation time was about 3 hours. No additional charges. He returned to the house three days later to retrieve the radon monitor and showed me the current reading of 1.0 pC/l, well below the 11.0 pC/l from a prior test. A formal report was emailed the same day; the avg reading was 0.8 pC/l. I highly recommend hiring Radon Fix."

"I had two goals for this basement project: 1) Mitigate the radon and 2) encapsulate my crawl space using vapor barrier materials that I had purchased. I spoke with the owner (Dan) and he said his crew would collaborate with me to meet my expectations. The workers did a great job. They were friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and very respectful of my property."

"The appointment was for 1 p.m. and we rolled up to the house right on time. Jeff Ferguson was already there and had already climbed up on the roof to inspect it and was done, but was happy to go back up there along with my husband to show him the findings. He took us through the entire house, explaining what he was doing (and his evaluation of what he saw) with each room and each step. He answered questions thoroughly and offered information we didn't know or think to ask for (including maintenance suggestions, or preventative measures). He pointed out slight issues and offered advice on how to fix them, and identified the (few) larger issues for which we should probably ask remedial actions from the sellers. He was friendly, courteous and respectful-- even taking off his shoes while he worked the inside (carpeted) parts of the house. He gave us a full copy of the report to take home that afternoon, and followed up with an email including the photos he'd taken of potential problems and a scanned copy of the report in less than 24 hours. Overall my husband and I were both very pleased with this experience and I would hire HomeScan-- and Jeff, in particular-- if I need another inspection in the future."

"Out Radon did an excellent job. They were helpful on the phone before I committed. They also quoted me a lower price than anyone else, did a professional install, and then stood by their price. I am quite pleased with the whole experience and recommend them highly."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Grove City, OH

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
