"I'm giving Goodfellows Landscapes an A for scheduling and showing up for the appointment promptly. Al was very friendly and professional, when it was discovered there was a huge discrepancy in what he provides and what the "Big Deal Advertised", he promptly apologized for any confusion. He said this has happened with other customers and I should contact Angie's List for a refund.

I'm giving Angie's List a big fat D for not changing the Big Deal Description to prevent other potential customers from experiencing this unnecessary confusion, for giving me the "run around" and placing me on hold for an unnecessary extended amount of time, and for wasting Goodfellows' and my time. The deal's title was $49 for Landscaping/Hardscaping Evaluation and Plans Plus $250 Credit. Based on the title & description, I would expect a "Plan" of some sort. Goodfellows was very honest stating they do not provide Plant (Landscaping) Plans. If Angie's List would simply edit the description to omit Plans as being provided in the deal, it would be so much simpler!"

"If you are looking for paver patios, the installers are great. They did a very nice job, and were professional throughout. They would clean up every day before leaving, addressed any questions we had timely and we are very satisfied with the results. We also added a gazebo to our patio design. It was very clear that gazebo's are not one of their strengths. We encountered many issues with the design and build of the gazebo long before construction began. We had hired Josh in October to complete all elements of the landscaping project the following spring. Over the winter months, we had asked on many occasions for catalog photos, or anything that would confirm what the finished gazebo was going to look like. The pictures were never sent and the only indication of what it might look like came just a few days before the project began and was a very small (1x1) black and white picture. Our expectation of the gazebo was that the material used would be cedar. We had asked for glass windows that could be closed during the cooler and winter months. We were assured on many occasions that cedar material and glass windows were what we were going to get. As they were starting to build the gazebo, the material was not cedar, rather it was pressed wood. As the windows were installed, they were not glass (despite being told that very day they were glass), instead they were a plastic film over the screens. We were left in a very difficult position where we were essentially forced to concede on both elements. While the gazebo is functional, and will suit our needs, had Josh sent just ONE picture sometime in the 5 months or so prior the project start, we may have been able to make a different decision. Related, and something else to be aware of. When trying to reach Josh about start dates, etc I would say he was not always as responsive as I would have expected. Furthermore, there were multiple instances where what was promised was not delivered. Again, if you are looking at a paver or patio project - these guys are great and I would recommend their workmanship. However beware of anything more than that."

"We hired Eric to redo our patio in Bloomington and we were blown away by his team's work and professionalism. Eric helped us pick the best design for our yard and our layout. Eric's team was efficient and hard working. The project was completed on time and we were so thrilled with the results. The new paver patio they installed was absolutely beautiful. We would happily recommend Eric and his team!"

"Brian met with us, took copious notes on what we were looking to do, and then provided a detailed proposal. His was not the lowest priced bid, but on 2 separate occasions I had questions that I emailed him, and he responded within 12 hours each time. (I can't say the same about the sales guy from a different company I had bid on our project, who never emailed back or called unless I tried to contact him twice.) Brian was beyond diligent, and sincerely cared that we would be happy with our end result. He did a computer-diagrammed plan of our front planting beds that we were refreshing, including removal of several cubic yards of rock and moving it to some areas in our side and backyard that needed it and disposing the rest, as well as removal of old poly and stale and dying plants. He and his crew were careful not to damage our lawn with their heavy equipment. They used plywood laid down on the grass so no ruts would go into our yard from the Bobcat. All told 3 separate front planting beds were refreshed. in one of the beds, a few of the new plants, still in their pots, were ones my wife didn't end up liking aesthetically, and Brian made suggestions on alternatives and with absolutely no qualms he replaced the original choices with the new ones, no questions asked. They planted all new shrubs and plants and laid down new mulch. In our backyard there were 3 old overgrown and dead junipers that they removed and regraded a small sloped bed and planted some more appropriate evergreens and groundcover plants. More mulch went down there as well. In both the front and backyards, a couple of drain tiles were placed to aid in diverting sump pump water away from the house in the back, and improve drainage from a previously installed drain tile in the back corner of our backyard. Everything went on schedule and Brian's crew was diligent and pleasant to work with. Brian made sure to supervise everything each day. He rounded it all out with an excellent review of the care of the new plants, complete with a folder with lots of written instructions that are easy to follow. Brian and his company were a pleasure to work with, and frankly the gold standard in customer service for any contractor, landscaping or otherwise."

"Steeleman's came through and got the job done by the 4th, as promised (in fact, 2 days early). The area looks great and they were very professional. I would definitely recommend them. We are currently considering having them come back and do another landscaping job in the front yard."

I spoke with Joy Beckman in their offices through email, she very nice and easy to work with. Scheduling also wasn't going to work. My sprinkler guys is getting closer to retirement and I will most likely use this company when that time comes."
