"I am extremely unhappy with the work and service I have gotten from Skylight Roofing and Masonry. In the spring of 2024 I had flooding in my basement. I immediately went to Angi and messaged a few highly recommended companies. Skylight answered first. I decided to hire Skylight given their 5 star Angi ratings, excellent reviews, and given what I believed was the credibility of the staff they sent to describe the problem and how they would remediate it. I was astounded by the price but felt the foundation of my home was a critical investment. I was forced to write $9,000 checks every other day until the work was complete. They would not bill me. The total cost was $37,800. I have never spent so much for any repair on my house and I have lived here for 38 years. Skylight was not sure when they would finish but finished the work on a Friday afternoon. That made me concerned that they may not have dotted all their i s and crossed all their t s - $37,800 for a week s worth of work and they just happened to complete the work on a Friday afternoon when the day before they were not sure when they d be done. I asked to review the work and give final payment on Monday but was refused. I was forced to allow the manager to come by Friday evening to review the work he did and give him the final check, which I did. Skylight "completed" the service but my insurance wouldn't cover it. They were surprised and agreed to write a letter to the insurance company given that other customers had gotten coverage. I had told Skylight that my insurance refused coverage because the repairs were due to wear and tear and sent them the documentation. Skylight wrote the letter but did not mention that other customers had gotten coverage and did not make the case for all the work they did beyond wear and tear. They sent the letter to the insurance company without showing it to me first and gave no other details about their work except addressing wear and tear. So, of course, they gave the insurance company no reason to reconsider their position. In the process of doing that, one of the contractors came out to look at the work and noticed a problem he was anxious to fix, stating he wanted to be sure everything was done correctly given their 25-year warranty. This was in August of 2024. Nothing was scheduled. My basement then flooded in the fall at the first heavy rain at the site of their very expensive work. They agreed to fix everything but they've been putting me off since last August. It is now September 2025. I placed many phone calls and texts and always was met with promises to assign someone to repair the work. This has caused me a great deal of anxiety. I now have no faith in the work they have done. I would not ever recommend them to anyone and wish I had never hired them in the first place. I don t understand how they have such positive reviews - they were all positive when I hired them. Although I recently saw one significant negative review similar to mine on Home Advisor regarding poor follow-up and lack of response for warranty work after an upfront payment. Given all the money I ve invested and the 25-year (!) warranty they gave me, I would like my money returned so that I can hire a reputable firm who will do quality work and truly guarantee their work."
