"Randy Gardner responded immediately to my request for a visit and estimate. He looked inside and outside, and told me I did not need to go to the expense of the drain tile and waterproofing. He said the house (build in 1917) had settled, and that the sidewalk along the side of the house was sinking toward the house, resulting in the water in the basement. He recommended removing the existing sidewalk, and laying new concrete with the proper slope away from the house. Although it was not a cheap fix, it was half of what I feared it would cost. The crew was on time, efficient, and did a great job. I highly recommend G Gardner Concrete and Waterproofing!"

"Gardner Construction provided a project estimate one day after contacting them. Scott walked through options and provided honest recommendations for the garage floor and foundation repair that was needed. Any questions I had regarding the process or estimate were answered promptly. Gardner (Scott and crew) did an outstanding job replacing the garage floor and deteriorated foundation cinder blocks. The crew showed up early every day, were polite and respectful and got right to work. They went above and beyond in how they conducted their work and explained the process and improvements they were making to do the job right. The job site was kept organized and they cleaned up very well after they were completed each day. The entire crew was trusting, professional and knowledgeable - and aimed for quality and perfection. "Rob was very prompt arranging an interview, was totally professional throughout. Very, very easy to work with and very responsive to questions and concerns. His crew was very polite, took great care to cover floors, and cleaned up very thoroughly after they finished. Had a leak from the utility sink after the install - foreman came an hour after I called and fixed the problem and cleaned up the water. A couple weeks later there was water again under one of the windows. Rob and his foreman came at 9:30 that night, a half hour after I called, to look at the problem, which was from the window well. The crew was back the next day, fixed the problem, and the basement has been dry ever since. I would absolutely recommend Rob and his crew and am thrilled the basement isn't wet anymore!

"Basement Waterproofing project completed by Tom Bever and his Maltese totally professional crew. Split level home required the team to make constant trips up/down recently installed Oak stairs, which they fully protected with cloth tarp, and work area was sealed off floor to ceiling with tapped plastic barrier, as well as covering all items that could not be removed from work area. The team was in and out in 2 days. An almost immediate test due to significant rain levels which previously would have seen water infiltration were handled without a hint of moisture by the installed drainage & sump system. Totally professional, clean job. A pleasure to work with. Timing could not have been better."

"Sam did a great job on the basement, it looks fantastic. He has good attention to detail and is very responsive via text message. Sam came up with a plan that we approved but then once the demolition was complete, we had to change the plan to replace the sewer pipes. There were also low-hanging steel beams and lots of vents that made the basement remodel a challenge. 
Sam used subcontractors for some of the work but he would come and inspect periodically to see how they were doing. The City inspectors were also a challenge to work with and Sam had to stay on them to get them to come and actually do the inspections, but it finally all got done in the end. 
While the project was expensive, (especially with the unforeseen plumbing issues) I think we got a great value for our money. Sam is a nice guy and is easy to work with as new things are discovered and have to be accommodated during a remodeling project.

"We contracted with Fair and Square back in April to complete a living room addition to our existing home and are happy we did. We loved working with our project manager Sam. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, foresaw things we didn’t and guided us through the entire project. She was always there to answer our questions and address our concerns and made us feel like we were in good hands. We envisioned a beautiful fireplace as the centerpiece for the room and the work Fair and Square did on the stone surround and Columbia wood flooring turned out even better than we hoped. "The project eventually got finished. Might have been a little more complicated to get started on as it required the city and contractor to communicate seeing as it was a city renovation program. Things I?d like to go better is cleanup and mitigation of dust. It was limited to whatever steps I took. The pump has to be reset 1 to 2!times through a span of 60 days or so. Not sure if that?s normal and to be honest I haven?t yet reached out or looked into this on my side. Aside from that Mr Brown was easy to talk to and respectful as was his workers. When the work finally started to was down quickly. There were parts that could have gone better but it could have gone worse. I won?t say I wouldn?t recommend them at the same time I think there?s something?s that could definitely improve upon. And to add it did pass City of Plymouth inspection and their requirements for the program. I?ll have a better idea of how this works out in the future."

"We are so pleased with the work Mill City Concrete did at our home. Tim came up with great ideas and design. He and Kris were a pleasure to work with as we got ready for the project. Good communication always happened so we knew what was going on both before and throughout the project. The team that did the installation was lead by Jon and he and all of the workers were easy to speak with if we had questions. They were also easy to deal with if they had questions for us. They explained the process and options clearly so we knew what was happening. Work progressed daily and the job got done in the time Tim had projected. It looks wonderful and we have gotten numerous complements from neighbors and strangers alike. We would definitely have Mill City back if we need additional concrete work done on our property. Vitaly (owner) came to my house to see what needed to be done and to offer suggestions.  He was polite and professional.

Viktor came to work on time a few days later to start the demolition. The dumpster was not there the first day so he came back the next day to start. No problem.  Viktor and his helper worked very hard to demolish  the bathroom.  They cleaned up each day before they left.

There was some mold on an adjacent bedroom wall , which was not surprising, since the some of the old bathroom shower tiles were missing.  Vitaly thought that we could find some kind of a solution to get rid of the mold, but  none of the stores had a powerful enough formula to do the job right.  After a  few days, I decided it was best to have that wall removed completely.   Vitaly asked Viktor to give a bid to remove the bedroom wall.  Viktor did not want to take on that job.  Vitaly then gave me a name of a contractor who specializes in mold removal.  I hired that company and in about another week, the mold wall was carefully removed and replaced with another bedroom wall. 

Before the bedroom mold wall was removed, Viktor installed an outside vent cap for the bathroom fan.   There is a small section of roof (approx. 18 inches) with a pitch extending from the side of the house above the bathroom ceiling where the vent roof cap could be placed.

 Viktor installed  a vent cap, but it was the wrong type.  He installed a wall vent cap, not a roof vent cap.  Also, the vent was installed over the shingles and flashing, instead of under them. If left as is, wind and rain  would be able to come into the exhaust pipe or leak under the shingles and enter the bath fan/house.  I notified Vitaly about it.  He called me back and said that they would fix it.  He said that Viktor told him that he had installed that type of vent before.   I said to Vitally that I would remove it and install a new, correct type of vent.

After the bedroom wall was replaced, I decided  that I did not want to use Vitaly's services any more.  I called Viatly and talked to him about the situation and my decision.  He was very polite and listened to what I had to say.  We agreed that it was best to settle on the charges I owed him and move on.    

 I've called Angie's List a few times, since, to talk about the situation.    One of the things that I found from the Angie's List Representative was that Vitaly's company had already been paid by Angie's List.  This surprised me, since I thought a contractor would get paid for a Big Deal only AFTER the work had been done.

  At this point, I want to be sure that Vitaly's company gets paid for the work they did. (they have been paid, amount is unknown) 

  Also, I would like to get a refund for $3700.00     I feel that I owe Vitaly $1300.00 for the work his company did.   My figure includes an adjustment for replacing the bath fan vent and for the extra 5 days the dumpster sat in my yard.

I would appreciate a resolution to this situation so that all 3 parties can move on.  Thank you.
