"I hired (Name Removed) to paint my kitchen and bathroom cabinets for $4,400. On September 27, a worker removed my cabinets and drawers, applying painters tape and plastic before taking them for painting. The next day, Philip started applying primer without sanding. He got paint on my refrigerator, hardwood floor, and dishwasher, promising it would come off. However, the primer was dripping, and I have pictures to prove the poor application. After finishing the primer,(Name Removed) asked for $1,000 upfront, which I paid. He returned later but said he couldn't paint yet because the primer wasn't dry, rescheduling for September 29. On that day, he texted that he was running late and claimed his cat knocked over the cabinets. I scheduled him for October 1, but he canceled again, citing more excuses. On October 1, he texted that his employee died in a car crash, which I found hard to believe due to his previous flakiness. I demanded a specific time for completion or for him to return my cabinets. He eventually agreed to bring them back on October 4. When he returned, the paint job was unacceptable. The cabinets were chipped, with excess paint everywhere. I refused to pay the remaining balance. My daughter recorded the exchange for safety. Philip became loud and threatened to put a lien on my home, despite there being no contract. He demanded $400 for paint, although his receipt showed only $203.68. To get him to leave, my daughter suggested paying him $400. He took the money but left without giving me the hinges, making it impossible to reattach the cabinets. On October 7, I texted him for the missing hinges. He replied, demanding another 1k to find them. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, and I believe Philip should not be operating as a contractor. He is not a qualified painter and should not take on such jobs."
