"Mike and team are amazing to work with. I have used them for exterior paint twice, both great experiences. Having worked with numerous contractors over the years, a company that does impeccable work with great service is an outlier. Absolute is definitely that and would recommend them without hesitation."

"What M Brothers recommended for my project vs. my other estimates was actually the best solution in the end. I feel they had my house and concerns at the forefront and the results show it. It looks just like any other new house now! Watching during construction (with prior experience) and seeing completed results, I’m confident I’ll get many leak-free years. Pete & Jesse"

"Dax showed up on time and did an excellent job. Their quote was reasonable and affordable. I would recommend them to any one who needs roof and gutter cleaning. Please note that they do not replace the gutter covers after removing them. You have to do it your self."
It's very satisfying to see a job well done and the customer very happy. Our technicians get energy from helping our customers maintain their homes.
The mop and squeegee is our go-to for most window cleaning jobs. We clean windows inside and out. We clean the outside of skylights and solar panels too.

Roof Moss Removal & Treatment and Gutter Service
In our temperate climate, moss grows everywhere! Debris left to decompose on roofs creates a nice environment for moss to grow and flourish. Most homes need moss treatment annually to keep moss at bay. If your home is in the woods, twice a year might be needed.

"Mark and his team of two others from Joe's Window Cleaning Service were amazing! They washed the inside + outside windows and screens on the four levels of our old Portland home (built in 1910) for a very reasonable fee. Our house is so much brighter now with clean windows. We're so grateful to this crew for their hard work, professionalism, efficiency, and friendliness! We 100% recommend their business to others - thanks again Mark + team! 🎉"

"It went WONDERFULLY! Dan came out and gave me a bid. He told me I didn't actually "need" to replace the front gutter. I really appreciated his honesty and integrity in not trying to sell me anything I didn't truly need! That's a quality I really look for but don't always find. Also his communication was flawless. I always knew exactly what was going to be done and when. Great about keeping me well informed every step of the way. Thanks, Dan! Shane and his crew came out for the install shortly thereafter and they were fast, efficient and friendly! Shane advised me one of the underground cement gutter lines was clogged and referred me to Grumpy's Drain Cleaning who was every bit as good as this company. When they say good people know good people, it really is true. Shane is very easy to work with and we were completely satisfied with the superb outcome. Thanks Shane! I highly recommend this company. There is literally nothing I didn't like about them and that's really saying something."

"I contacted them for minor moss removal and treatment. The owner came out to look it over and told me I didn't really need removal, that treating it twice would take care of the problem without removing any granules from the shingles. He showed up a few days later and treated it. Although I don't see any remaining moss, I am going to follow his recommendation and have him do it again in the fall. The price was quite reasonable and the people were nice to deal with."

"If you want stucco or plaster work done in Portland, there is only one person to hire and that is Louis. He is a true craftsman in the old school tradition of home builders and contractors. For our home, we had issues with stucco that was applied by another contractor which resulted in water coming into the home. From the moment Louis looked at our home, we knew he was the person to do the job. Louis and his team were phenomenal. They did everything right and consistently went above and beyond to do it right. We had two walls replaced, but they resurface the entire home. He repealed every window and re-did all the flashing around the home. He repaired serious defects and cracks in the original as well. The result is absolutely stunning. The home is completely sealed and "new" but it looks like it's 95 years old. And his small attention to detail with molding around the windows and a "bell band" made the home stand out in ways that we never imagined. Louis is not the least expensive, but he is probably one of only two people in Portland who knows how to do stucco right. We will hire Louis again and again, for interior work on our NE Portland home. And on top of all that, he is one of the nicest gentlemen you could meet. If you go with Louis, you can be assured that the job will be done right."

"My experience with Dr. Roof (biz, not inc.!) was excellent. Having had a bad experience last year with a different moss removal company whose treatment did nothing and didn't remove any existing moss, I was skittish about who I hired to take care of my roof. Dana, the owner of Dr. Roof (biz), himself came out to inspect my roof. One company did their inspection using Google maps and didn't come out personally. Not only was Dana's inspection thorough, but I found him to be a very friendly, sincere man. After collecting three bids, I was vacillating between two companies but leaning towards Dr. Roof (biz) because of their choice to use eco-friendly products and processes. Their price was $50 higher than their competitor which gave me pause since the cost of roof maintenance is not cheap in the first place. I had paid the consequence of going cheap the previous year, so I was careful to read the reviews and found that the good companies were pretty close in price to each other. I called Dr. Roof (biz) and expressed my desire to go with them but also my concern to fully rid my roof of the moss. They didn't brush me off or offhandedly promise that I would be happier choosing them over the competitor, but rather Dr. Roof (biz) worked out a satisfactory solution that met my goals and concerns giving me confidence that they were the right company to go with. I am not sorry at all and couldn't be happier! They did a great job overall getting rid of all my moss and are my new go-to roof maintenance company! In addition to being a great company to work with, they also hire great people. I specifically want to give a shout-out to their worker, Will, because I was so impressed with his work ethic. He is a very nice, humble, hard-working young man. I observed his work as he went around and was continually pleasantly surprised by his care and thorough attention to my house, from the roof to the gutters to the overall clean-up. Becky in the office is also very nice and very good at follow-up and customer care. Thanks, Dana for creating a great company with great workers from the top down!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Portland, OR

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
