"All Fuel saved the day! I took my stovepipe apart to clean it and did not realize that the top flange slips down the pipe. I thought that I had pushed the pipe up through the ceiling support box! Had a roofer out who assessed from topside and told me it looked good up there. "As the GC for my own full home renovation, I was looking for a turn-key company that I could outsource and trust to handle the exterior work for my house (new house wrap, siding, and window/door installation). I was really optimistic about this company because they were a Hardie-certified installer. I hired them to install about 30 top-of-the-line Andersen windows, several exterior doors, and install all new Hardie siding and trim. Unfortunately things went south on day 1 and continued to spiral out of control. In a nutshell, I had three different project managers assigned to me throughout the project, and neither of them came on site once the project started (until the very end, and the last project manager was awesome... kuddos to him!). The first crew that came on board were subcontractors, not Evergreen employees. When they started to install my windows, I knew immediately that they did not know how to properly flash a window sill (they had gaps in the Vycor flashing, didn't wrap the sill properly, etc. etc.). I called this to the PM's attention but nothing was done. The crew installed all windows in one day, not properly flashed. Crew was retrained and came back to "fix" them, but still didn't properly flash them. Meanwhile, they were taping the seams on our house wrap in the rain, when the house wrap was wet, so nothing stuck and had to be redone. Fortunately this crew was let go and I was told they were going to bring their "in-house" crew to finish. The next crew was awesome and they ended up removing all windows and reinstalling them. In total, each window was installed three times! As a result, some of the nail flanges and seals were broken. I called this out to the PM and owner of the company but did not get a response. From this point on, the crew that stayed on did a good job and was pleasant to work with (but I found out they were also subcontractors, not "in-house" employees as I was told up front). The delivery of a few windows and doors were delayed by about three months, which was my responsibility. I told all project managers about this upfront, including the first project manager before the project started. He said it was okay and that we could start the project and hold back a specific percentage amount of the project payment until they arrived so they could return to complete it at a later time. He and I agreed and the project moved forward. When the owner of the company, Jon Jordan, found out about the window/door delays, he was irate. His brother/GM and PM (who were both very polite and professional) called me and tried to negotiate a higher partial payment percentage rate which was absolutely frustrating to me. I explained to them that I had suffered for months through the project with extreme errors and redos, which caused mental angst, and that we had already agreed on a percentage on day one. Nonetheless, I was willing to increase the partial payment a little bit just to wrap things up. The owner followed up that evening by texting me in an aggressive, threatening tone. He said my only options were to allow them to finish the project immediately (which was impossible because we didn't have the remaining windows or doors), or pay them in full immediately and they would return after the doors/windows arrived a few months later. Otherwise he would sue me and put a lien on my home. He and I hadn't even spoken prior to that, and it was shocking to get such an aggressive text from a guy who never even heard my side of the story… I proposed to the owner that we cease the contract immediately, and that I would pay them for all work completed at that point. We agreed on how much work was remaining, and removed that amount from the contract price. We cancelled the contract, he had his remaining materials picked up and that was that. Again, I was hopeful for this company and wanted to have a great experience, but due to the poor project management experience, inexperienced subcontractors who caused damage and significant delays, and a sue-happy, angry owner who lacked professionalism and compassion, I could never re-consider hiring, let alone recommend, this company for any type of contracting work."

After the last time did not work, he offered to redo it once more or provide a refund and I immediately replied back that I would accept the refund and wish him well. He was going through some family health issues so I didn't press it and I waited to hear from him. Instead of honoring my wish to move forward with the refund he offered, in writing, and I accepted in writing, he tried to schedule a time to redo it. He then says he didn't mean to offer a refund and he refuses to honor it now. He told me I should just file a complaint and "try to ruin his reputation". Just another reason why it's best not to involve neighbors in professional endeavors. I'm sad it turned out this way."

Wainscoting is decorative paneling that covers the lower part of a wall for style and protection. Beadboard is a type of wainscoting made of long vertical planks with small raised beads between each board. You’ll see it on walls and ceilings when homeowners want added depth and charm. Both options work indoors or outdoors; beadboard pieces lock together with tongue-and-groove joints, while similar styles, such as shiplap, rely on a square rabbet joint.
The best rule of thumb for wainscoting is to stop the panels at about one-third of the wall height. In a room with a nine-foot ceiling, that’s roughly three feet up. Sticking to this ratio keeps the room balanced, lets plenty of wall color show above the trim, and delivers a polished, timeless look.
Wainscoting can make a room look smaller if the room has low ceilings. The same rule applies to wainscoting as it does to painting any space: to make the room look larger and more open, paint it a light color, such as white or cream. Since beadboard incorporates vertical lines in the paneling, this style of wainscoting is ideal for those wanting to make a room appear larger than it is.
Technically, you can panel any room, but wainscoting shines in open areas, such as a foyer or a tall-ceilinged bathroom. Skip it in small rooms with low ceilings—panels can make tight spaces feel boxed in. Open-concept layouts without clear stopping points along the walls are also tricky, as the trim requires a distinct beginning and end.
Removing existing wall panels before installing wainscoting involves distinct demolition efforts. The cost to hire a professional for demo work is $1.50 per square foot. If the underlying drywall requires replacement after panel removal, an additional fee of $1.60 to $2.35 per square foot is incurred. Completing these tasks properly ensures a sturdy foundation and a flawless finish.
