"Francisco came on time to give me a very fair price to extend a brick patio, replace some flagstone and repair a low brick wall. His workers were efficient and did an excellent job, going over and beyond the the job tasks requested. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards and removing debris. I highly recommend him."

"The job started on a Saturday and the contractor wasn't present, just two workers and a lead.  That day's work was to apply the first, brown coat.  I couldn't get a question answered by the lead worker on the job and tried to telephone the contractor.  He did not respond to the message I left and, instead, telephoned the lead worker and sent him to me to answer the question.  I noticed that weep holes in one section had been plastered over and pointed it out to the lead worker.  He said they just hadn't gotten to it yet and soon they were opened.  What I didn't notice was that they weren't opened in another section.
The final coat was applied next Saturday, one week later, by the same crew.  The workers left without speaking to me and I discovered the unopened weep holes in the second section.  I tried reaching the contractor by phone but could only leave a message.   The contractor and the lead worker showed up at the site a day later, with no advance notice, at about an hour after sundown.  The contractor ended up getting a flashlight to look at the work (darkness had descended) and first alleged that weep holes weren't in the original wall anywhere and then tried to say the ones that were opened were in the footing, not the wall.  They left saying they would return when light was better to continue finding out what happened.  I printed what pictures I had of the wall to prove my point.  The lead worker showed up the next day demanding the final payment. I showed him the pictures and he flatly denied that what I said were weep holes were, in fact, weep holes.  He  insisted that they were merely broken mortar.  i decided to just make the final payment  and re-drill the weep holes myself. I wanted no more to do with this contractor,.  Except for the weep hole issue, the stucco work was well done.
Since conflict resolution is important to me, I will never use this contractor again nor recommend him to others.
This review has been written by my husband who was the one involved with the contractor.

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"We needed to make repairs to a fireplace that we had never used, as we prepared our home to become a rental propery. Rich came in with a fair and reasonable bid that included all needed repairs and new custom glass doors and gas log set. All was done in a timely manner with great care. Highly recommended! Thanks Rich!!

"My husband and I were looking to have our patio & driveway paved, and called numerous companies to come out for a quote. Through Home Improvement guide we found Exodus Construction and Remodeling Inc. read some of the reviews and decided to give them a call. Almong Dahan came out to give us a quote and assist with ideas. From the get go Al was extremely helpful, very easy to work with, and super friendly. After getting a very competitive price, my husband and I decided Exodus would be the company we would go with.  We set up our appointment to begin work at 8am Friday morning, and at exactly 8am the crew arrived. The crew of about 5 to 10 guys were all super polite and friendly. Day one was the demo, removal of cement and start of the new foundation. The crew was very clean with all their materials and totally respectful of the area around us (neighbors etc). They staged all of their tools and materials so not to create any hazards or problems for people in the neighborhood. They ended the day right around 4pm, cleaned up, and were out of here by 5pm. Day 2, once again, arrived right at 8am. They finished up the removal of cement and started with laying out sand. Once again, cleaned up well and respectful of the area. Day 3 they started laying all the pavers. Day 4 & 5 they came out (on time once again) and finished laying pavers.  Day 6 applied the sealer to the pavers. So all in all it took 6 full days.  Our patio and driveway look perfect, the planter areas are cut to perfection, the pavers look a whole lot better than we ever imagined. We've dealt with a number of contractors since living here, and Exodus was by far the most thorough and professional company we've dealt with so far. From the estimate to the final day of the job, everything went so smooth. From beginning to end Exodus impressed. If your looking for a small job or a big job, I highly recommend Exodus.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate on sending me a message through Angies List I'd be happy to answer."

"I have a lot of items that I store in the bathroom, and my bathroom that I had before the remodeling project had zero place for storing things, which meant that everything was either on the counter of the vanity or on the floor. It was a big cluttered mess. The bathroom I have now fixed all my storage issues: we put in new shelves and niches for all my cosmetics and shampoo bottles. And now I actually have space to move around! I have Tom and Lucas to thank for this. They did a great job not only with my master bathroom, but with the two others as well. I wanted a nice clean and white look with subway tiles. I know many people look down on subway tiles, so I was already expecting Tom and Lucas trying to talk me out of it. But they didn’t. They took my wishes to heart and executed them. Which was the case with all the decisions I made. If I was uncertain, they offered extremely helpful advice and suggestions, but they made sure that I was getting the bathroom that I wanted. I really enjoyed working with them and will hire them again if I can come up with another project for them to work on."

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Harbor City, CA

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
