"Time consuming but worth it. They understood Ann Arbor's local ordinances better than any other bidder, and were the most competitive bidder (if not by much, but they still were the lowest bidder). They made multiple trips to ensure the estimate was accurate and took pains to find a fencing solution that would comply with Ann Arbor's convoluted rules, yet be both functional and aesthetic. Multiple install trips as well, to deal with tree removal issues and weather problems. Final installed fence is beautiful. We likely will follow up because the locks installed on the two gates installed are proving difficult to manage, but I fully expect this issue to be resolved satisfactorily. (We have not yet contacted them about this, so it's not their fault that this issue remains unresolved - it's been a complicated year for us and, having worked with them, we trust in their ability to resolve this concern later. If we are wrong about this, we'll follow up on our review.) We found Upright Fence through Angie's List, and it was a good recommendation. We would do it all again exactly as it happened if given the option. We are so relieved to have the old, collapsing wooden fence removed and a new, vinyl fence - properly installed along the lot boundaries. Our thanks to the Upright team...we can understand why they've been in business so long. Experience does indeed count for something."

"They were there on Wednesday and removed the wood privacy fence and put in all the posts for the vinyl fencing.  They returned on Thursday and leveled all the dirt between the posts and put up the white vinyl fence.  They are returning on Friday to install the driveway gate because that post needs to sit longer due to having a moving part on it.  They also put up some fencing across the driveway so that I could let my dogs outside.  The people at the office were courteous and the work crew was really great in answering all my questions.  I would again like to thank all of them for the wonderful fence that I have to enjoy in my backyard. <br />"

"I'm so angry I can't see straight. We signed the contract on April 11 2014. Still don't have a new fence,gate or posts. The problem is Bob. Instead of having a full time office person. Bob is the office, the estimator, the gopher. At his convenience he comes to give an estimate. At this point, your foolish enough to proceed. He gives you paper work to have neighbors sign since it's a replacement not a repair. You do that in a few minutes. Call Bob and tell him. Unless you run the paper work to the office it could be a few days before he'll pick it up. So like a dummy, you drive it over. Then you find out you need one more signature. You get it and run it over to the office. Then you find out there's a glitch with ownership of one of the homes. You call Bob and tell him that. You also tell him to tell the permit guy that the city taxes come in two names. Of course he doesn't. You make the call and leave a message for permit guy. He gets back to you and says he'll investigate. Then he calls again to say they can waive it and the permit will be approved. You call Bob and tell him this. But you get the call that the permit is ready. Why? Because, you filled the form out as you believed to be right. Turns out you not Star Fence is the applicant. Bob told me he'd fix it when he first saw the forms I of course delivered to him. Fast forward, it's now three weeks since the permit was ready. I was told last week when I called for a status check they'd be here tomorrow to remove the old and set the posts for the new. If I hadn't called to find out what time they start work, I guess I'd find out they aren't coming until the day was over and nobody came. At that, after the work that was supposed to happen tomorrow it was going to be the following Friday the sections would be installed. Bob keeps trying to sell me on a setting time for the cement. I challenge it saying if the set the posts on Friday. The installation of the sections should happen two days later on Monday not a week later. I have a furry kid. For a week, they expect me to regardless of weather or time of day take him out on a leash. A smart business would put up a temp fence until installation could be completed. <br /> Unless the installation is a DaVinci work of art. This will be the worst business experience I've ever dealt with. I will be back to report when the job is finally completed. <br /> <br /> <br /> I would use them again making allowances for time. I will also recommend them to people. <br /> UPDATE: I've already posted a review but said I'd be back at completion. Although I have had some frustration and wasted time. I have to say that I'm completely satisfied with the installation. I'm 0lder with heart and lung disease. I have a dog. It's been a real hardship to leash him and go out with him no matter time of day or night and weather conditions for ten days. That being said. When they finally get to it, they do excellent work. With the warning of and quot;if your in a hurryand quot; you might want to choose someone else. But, since quality in my opinion, is most important. I'd use them again and would recommend them."

He was very responsive and discussed our options for material in a clear manner. He then gave us a fair quote after answering all of my questions. He ordered the materialsand came to our home exactly when he said he would and did a very nice work. We would suggest him to a friend anytime. Great Job, very satisfied customers."

"The work went well. Aproximately 70 feet of 6 foot high privacy fence with one 4 x 6 feet gate. The work was completed in 2 days plus a callback to realign the matching gate with the fence and adjust the latch. The callback resulted in a bout one additional hour. All was covered in the contracted cost. When we had additional fencing installed we called them firs, but they were not taking residential work. This was during Covid."

"Very professional. We hired him twice. The first time to build and install a privacy fence. He made it from lumber, not prefab. Beautiful quality work. The second was a bathroom remodel. Did the framing, drywall, tiles, paint, vanity installation. On time, worked full days, cleaned everything up each day for both jobs. Very happy with the work. Will call him again for future projects."
