"I have used Darien Carpet in the past, always with very good results. This time I had a bit of a crisis and needed a stair runner replaced QUICKLY. Darien Carpet helped me find carpeting they had in stock and they came to my house that afternoon. I thought they were coming to measure (I had given them estimates when in the store) but they came in and removed the old carpeting and put down new padding and carpeting that day! The new carpeting looks great and was installed perfectly. Darien Carpet representatives were professional and efficient. I am so grateful to the members of this family-owned business for being so responsive to my needs. Thanks!"

"We went to another carpet place originally who told us the carpet we wanted would take over 3 weeks to be shipped. Mark from Bay carpet came to our house(wearing a mask of course)and was able to get and install the same carpet in a week. Their price was $100 less than our original quote, They also re-stretched a carpet in another room that was not installed properly. They came on time, were very neat and did a great job. Highly recommend"

"Marc did a fantastic job cleaning the carpets in my apartment as I was moving out. He was able to start about 45 minutes before the scheduled appointment (called to see if earlier would work for me - and it did). The carpets were thoroughly cleaned and extra attention was given to some harder wear spots. And Marc was flexible to work with and around the cleaning crew that was also in my apartment at the same time finishing up the bathrooms and kitchen. I would definitely recommend Live by the Brush to others!"

"Mike was very attentive, checking in every step of the way. It's clear that he and his installers take pride in their work. <br /> I was planning to use a basic budget builder's grade carpet. Mike gave me the option of using some much higher quality, but factory defective carpet, for a much better price. The defect was dots of small grease stains, every few feet, in a row along one end of the roll. For a much better price, he could cut out the stains for the hall and stairs, and put the stains towards the back of the bedrooms where they'd be covered with furniture. <br /> Not only is the carpet installed perfectly and much higher quality than I planned for, but his guys got the stains out! Extremely pleased. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Hawleyville, CT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
