"So I live in a older house (1947) so the plumbing is older too. Anytime I used my sink dishwasher or laundry the water would all but flood my basement making it almost unusable. I called and talked to Seth he was able to get to my home the next day and diagnose the problem my pipes in the concrete were old and clogged beyond repair well he managed to completely redo all of my plumbing brand new and have it up and running in a matter of a few hours! I now have a dry usable basement. He gave me a very decent price as well! Now hopefully I don't need another plumber anytime soon but if I do I'm calling seth at SWB!"

"They showed up on the day they said they would and completed the project on schedule. We had a few problems with the boiler shutting itself off and requiring a manual reset. They were very responsive with their troubleshooting and eventually found it was a problem with the pressure in the gas line. They installed a regulator and it's worked perfectly ever since. <br /> I'd hire them again, and I go out of my way to recommend them to friends and family. <br />"

"Walter did a great job.  He came to our house as scheduled. He even called to say he was going to be a little late as another job was taking him longer than planned.  He came on a Saturday at no extra charge on his rates.   <br /> I was aware of what was causing the leak and what it would take to repair the leak by checking it on a self repair site on the internet.  I felt the job was a little above my level of expertise so we called a plumber.  <br /> Walter did only the work that was required and his price was astonishingly fair.  He is a licensed master plumber (we checked) who is self employed.  He did a great job and I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend his services. <br />"

"I called several plumbers in my area. Richard P Waltz answered and told me that their plumbers were all scheduled for the remainder of the working day, but could send one after 5 PM, though I would have to pay overtime. I agreed. But one of their plumbers finished up a call early and they sent him to me around 4 PM. He quickly diagnosed the problem as the rubber washer in the valve failing, due to age. With the help of the building property manager I got the water main to my area shut off and the plumber opened up the valve and replaced the washer, which broke apart as he took it out - he was absolutely right in his diagnosis. When I had the building water turned back on we found that I still had a leak from the faucet, but now we could shut off the water and the plumber found that the faucet itself had seals that had failed. But at that point I could do the work myself, so thanked him and he left. He'd spent only about 1/2 hour, and I paid the regular rate. Great service, excellent knowledge."

"We had many issues with our boiler for a long time that had become extremely serious.  We had our regular maintenance company come out several times to fix the issues but with no luck.  They still charged us though!  Everyone we asked for quotes to fix the issues said we had a leak in our boiler and needed to replace it.  Mainely Plumbing were the only ones who figured out what was really going on and saved us a great deal of money.  Without using them we would have replaced the boiler and then had to do all the work they did anyway.  <br /> We have also used them for regular maintenance since with good results.  <br />"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"When I first bought my 756 sq. ft. 1947 house in 2007 it had a natural gas baseboard heater in the kitchen. The heater was probably original to the house which has natural gas powered forced air heat. There is one large grate that services the main body of the house, however, the kitchen is mostly separated from the rest of the house by a wall with one opening. As a housewarming gift, a family friend who is a master plumber inspected all the mechanicals and indicated that they were good except for the heater. It had a live flame and he considered it unsafe. He properly disconnected and discarded it for me. <br /> We have some tough winters here in Maine, and the kitchen's main wall faces north. It was darn cold sometimes in that kitchen! The heating in the main body of the house had to overwork to heat the kitchen. I bought an electric baseboard heater for the kitchen, but it wasn't sufficient to keep the room warm on those really bitter cold days/nights. After much searching I found a Cozy (that is the brand name) natural gas baseboard heater at Grainger's. It has sealed combustion and is a safer option than the original heater. <br /> After reviewing Angie's List, I called three plumbing/heating firms, each having excellent reviews. Two never called me back at all. Joshua Nappi answered my call. He was in my area for another reason, and immediately came by and looked at the job and gave me an estimate. He said they were busy, but managed to fit me about a week later. Joshua and his partner Jeremy arrived exactly on time. The installation took less time than expected and cost less than the original estimate. I'm very happy to have the heater installed before winter sets in. I would happily hire Imperial Plumbing and Heating again. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Hebron, ME

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
