They tackled my original list so quickly and competently during my one-day handyman special that I was able to have them do my next list of projects. On the first day they repaired broken wood trim around my front door, replaced antique door knobs, removed and replaced caulk around our tub, replaced light switches, installed a piston on our front door. Through the entire process Jason was not only doing the work, but offering solutions for ways to do it best and improve the end product. "My wife and I own a home that was built in 1898. When we were soliciting bids for a LONG OVERDUE bathroom remodel, I had cast a pretty wide net on Angie's List trying to find a contractor with experience working with old homes, and someone I felt that we could trust. I found that contractor with Dunn Home Improvements.
Josh Dunn and his brother, Mike, began work on our bathroom renovation on a Monday morning. Upon entering the home, they laid down drop cloths and stair savers to keep from tracking in - and out - debris and general construction mess through the house. The demolition took a half day, and everything was carefully removed, and very meticulously cleaned. Color me impressed!
The rest of the project flew by, with Josh and Mike framing in the bathroom, running electric, plumbing, et cetera. The first week ended with leveling compound on the floor, set to cure and level out what was quite possibly the most un-even floor in our old home -- mission accomplished! The second week buttoned up with a beautiful tile job, painting, and installation of cabinets. We finally had a bathroom that we could be proud of. The transformation was complete!
I plan on keeping Josh and Mike on speed-dial for other projects for our home. Throughout the entire engagement, I felt not only informed, but empowered. The attention to detail is second-to-none, and I almost can't wait to start more renovation projects to work with Dunn Home Improvements again."

"The process was extremely smooth from the initial contact through the final stain application.  Chris was very prompt in getting back with us after we contacted him through Angie's List messaging service.  We talked (via phone) though the process and what we were looking for.  And we were very impressed with his professionalism, courtesy, and the levels of questions he asked us in order to gauge exactly what we wanted in order to verify if his services would fulfill our request.  He then walked us through what would happen next after the phone conversation - including the physical trip to our home for the bid and the leaving of his business card with plastic stain sample card; his business card looks like a piece of wood over which you lay the plastic sample card to see what the cedar would look like when finished.
Once we saw the bid and the color samples, which made us feel very comfortable with him right away and excited to move forward, we called Chris and set up the job.  We talked extensively about the stain application process and Chris reassured us that he would provide whatever color of stain we desired, which we was a HUGE deciding factor in hiring him.  We sent him a down payment to reserve a spot on his calendar, at which time he told us that it would be 2 weeks until he could come out to do the job.
Sure enough, 2 weeks later we got the call to come out.  The next day, Chris and his crew came out to the house and power-washed the deck and porch.  It looked amazing just after that process!  Then, the next day, he and his crew returned to the house and applied the stain.  It looks brand new and very appealing!  Our neighbors were even commenting on it right away and wanted his number.
We are very blessed and honored to have had the chance to work with Chris and his crew at Cedar Specialists.  And we are once again proud to have our porch and deck displayed for the world to see.  We are definitely going to keep Cedar Specialist's contact information on hand for future jobs!

"I received 2 other quotes before I contacted him that I absolutely could not do.  I kept getting told that because my home was so old and the door was original to the house that it had to be custom built along with the frame and would cost thousands of dollars.  I just could not accept that.  Richard came out quickly and looked at my door and told me he would have it done within the week and he absolutely did.  He found the parts he needed and replaced the doors and replaced some of the framing within 2 days.  It was a lot of work to do.  He and his other man were very polite and professional and I would use them again.
