As an Asheville resident of 25 years, David is dedicated to ensuring all projects around his hometown are completed with excellence. He has produced hundreds of projects with his crew, starting from the estimate, to the pour, and finished product. David has had extensive experience to ensure that the project is completed thoroughly, smoothly, and to the customers satisfaction. He graduated from Montreat College, and then gained a Masters in Business from Western Carolina University and a Masters in Social Work from Saint Leo University. Those degrees, combined with field experience, have opened an opportunity to streamline a price-conscious, quality product for the customer.

"The project started on time and it turned out fantastic. They were very accommodating when I asked for small changes. I will definitely recommend them to anyone needing concrete work done."

Locally owned business. We pride ourselves on quality work and great customer service. We believe in going out of our way for our customers! We work very hard to make sure that all of our customers are pleased with the work we do! We believe that every job, no matter the size, deserves our full attention and should be done right! We want you to feel like family.

"Guillermo and his crew did a wonderful job completing the three projects I needed done. They expertly fixed my sliding glass doors on 2 of my bathtubs. They also power washed my entire downstairs patio that had accumulated a ton of pollen/mold over the years. My patio was sparkling and ready for guests afterwards. They also fixed my front screen door so it could close properly. I would hire this business in a New York second if I ever needed repair work done again in my home. "

"David is hands down the best contractor I've ever worked with! He has a background in engineering and it shows. My home's driveway was severely damaged by Helene (we live up in the mountains near Swannanoa, NC) and we had a mass of earth precariously perched above our home. I was very nervous it could continue sliding into our home. In addition to this, where our road had collapsed, it had become dangerous to pass with a car. David and his team were able to assess the damage and develop a thorough, well-explained plan for repairing this road damage. We were able to build a retaining wall and reinforce the bank adjacent to our road. He even re-graveled our driveway at no additional cost because his trucks were unable to access our property due to sandy roads. The work was professional and of very high quality. While he was working on the road repairs I also had him check our foundation to see if things had shifted during the hurricane. David was able to identify some bowing/cracking and suggested a repair with steel bracing. We agreed to those repairs and while working on this he noticed our decking bolts had come undone. David then went around both our main home and an ADU to check the bolts/nuts were tightened down on all exterior structures. This was going beyond and above by a wide margin and showed how much David cares about doing the right thing and helping people above all else. I cannot recommend David enough both professionally and personally. He's a wonderful human who does excellent work and I will absolutely work with him again in the future! -Andrew"

Welcome to J&M Pump Services. We are a family owned and run business with over 5 years of experience. At J&M Pump Services we strive to make your concrete experience easier and enjoyable. We pump and pour concrete for walls, slabs or footers and no job is to small or to big. We are happy to help you in anyway possible. Please request a quote. We look forward to working with you.

"I am writing to formally address the issues concerning the project I hired Jackson of J & M Concrete to complete at my property. The scope of work was to diagnose and repair a pond leak as well as address a sinkhole, with an estimated project completion time of 2-3 days. The estimated total price was $6300, of which 50% was to be paid in advance, $3150 was paid. On January 2, 2025, Jackson, of J & M, poured some concrete, which was to cure and settle before the next phase. The project was left incomplete. Jason removed all equipment and left the job site by the next morning, leaving large ruts in the yard from the trackhoe and other heavy equipment. The sinkhole was not addressed, nor the pond leak. It has remained unfinished and has been getting worse during the last 2 and a half months. I called days two and three when there was no sign of them coming back and made numerous phone calls over the next couple months to find out when they would be back to finish the job, seeing as they were paid beyond the scope of the job they did. It has been more than 2 ½ months and no return phone call. At the end of February, I received a letter from the concrete company contracted by J &M, Smyrna Ready Mix Concrete, which is seeking payment for their services – “Notice to Contractor and Request for Notice of Commencement, O.C.G.A & s.44-14-361.5.” I called them and found out that their bill had not been paid by J & M. I notified Jackson about this matter and he texted back saying he was in Florida and would call in the upcoming week due to a death in the family. As of today, March 13, the pond continues to leak, and the sinkhole remains unresolved, even growing in size. The equipment used during the project caused enough damage to require that additional fees be spent for hiring a landscaper to address the ruts in the lawn left by the trackhoe, as well as the excavated hill dirt used to block the creek from flowing into the pond. The partial blockage diverted the water, causing it to overflow its banks. Fortunately, the blockage has since been cleared."

We offer the best quality workmanship in all phases of repairs, renovations and home improvements. We are hard working, honest, dependable and on time.We champion for the elderly and our friends with special needs. We tend to work mostly for homeowners rather than builders, as this cuts the homeowners cost on average by 15%. We also go the extra mile in quality control and stand behind our work. The other guys warranty usually lasts until your check clears. We offer free estimates and welcome our potential customers to obtain others for comparison but feel the customer also needs to consider the quality of work that will be done. Each job is different and are based on labor charges with material costs to be added. Materials are not marked up. The customer pays only for the materials that are used. Any unused materials are either left with the customer or returned to our vendor. If materials are returned to our vendor, the customer is given the credit for those returned items and are not charged for any of it. In most situations, we do not ask for any money up front. Consultations are with the homeowner before, during and after any job. We do not use subcontractors on any of our work. Depending on what the emergency is, we are available for our established customers.

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Highlands, NC

In most cities, you’re on the hook for the stretch of sidewalk that borders your property, but rules vary by municipality. Some towns split the bill—or pay it all—if the damage comes from city tree roots or utility work. Before you start repairs, call your local public works department to confirm who pays what and ask whether any cost-sharing or reimbursement programs exist.

Start with the basics: Are you licensed and insured, and how long have you been pouring sidewalks? Next, pin down the details—ask how long the work is guaranteed, whether the crew handles permits, and if they’ll provide references from recent jobs. A reputable pro should answer confidently, put warranty terms in writing, and welcome follow-up questions.

Most repairs wrap up in one to three days. A simple crack seal can be finished in a single afternoon, while lifting or replacing slabs can stretch to a couple of days plus curing time. You should factor in extra time if permits or inspections are needed for your repair service.

Measure the damaged area, snap a few photos, and have at least three concrete pros quote the job. Most repairs fall between $726 and $2,485, or $5 to $15 per square foot, so multiple bids help you spot outliers and lock in a fair price.

Patch a hairline crack yourself if you’re handy and have the right materials, but call a pro for anything that involves leveling, new concrete, or stamped designs. Contractors arrive with specialized gear, plenty of experience, and the permits already sorted—saving you time and ensuring the repair meets code and lasts.
