"A month or so ago our refrigerator stopped working. DK was the first to respond to my quote request and had someone come out that same afternoon. The repairman was able to diagnose and fix the problem in about 15 min. At that time I also asked him to check out the broken ice dispenser, which hadn't been working for quite some time. He also diagnosed that problem, but a new part was needed. That work was scheduled after the part came in and the repair was successful. A few days ago the flap on the ice dispenser stopped closing properly; once again, DK replied promptly to my request and the repairman came within a day and fixed the problem, no charge. DK has consistently been prompt, professional, and very good at communicating. If they say they will call or arrive in a certain time window, that's what happens. If for any reason they are running late, which only happened once by a few minutes, they communicate that, as well. We heartily recommend them and would definitely hire again."

"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. There was a deadline for installing this part before tenants arrive. They did not care, would not m"

"I had a clogged washer drainpipe. One company could not fix it. Another company wanted $3,100 to replace 3 feet of pipe and remove the clog. Cary Plumbing came out, cleared the clog, tested it twice and the price was very fair! He also noticed one of the hoses to my washer was leaking and he replace it. I trust them and highly recommend them!"

"When our home was built, the builders "roughed in" a central vac system by installing the outlets and vertical pipes down to the crawl space. We wanted to have our system finished, to include horizontal connecting piping in the crawl space and extending into the garage. We already had a separate circuit for the vacuum and low voltage wires run to each outlet. Jason was able to provide a quote after exchanging emails and speaking over the phone for the system completion. We decided to go with a different vacuum, but Jason worked with us and was open to completing the install (without supplying the vacuum). Jeremy was prompt and professional, and completed the install in just a few hours. All piping was supplied, as well as the outlet covers/receivers, and Jeremy mounted the vacuum and connected all piping. Before he left, he tested out the system with me and gave me a few pointers on how to use it. We have been using the system for over a month now, and could not be more happy with it! We have had no issues with the install, and everything works great. Thank you Jason and Jeremy, and the Central Vac Experts team, we highly recommend!"

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Hillsborough, NC

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
